I have hats with a few moth nibbles. I've gotten lucky in that, of my hats with nibbles, most are on the underside of the brim and are not visible from far away.
However, I did buy a supposedly all-beaver vinatge hat recently, and in the descrption (after inquiring about holes) it said this...
Count me in for the next shoot-out. (Hats, that is.)
I'll keep my eyes on the "events" thread for info about the screening. But I believe I will be there.
MK,
I am a size 7. I have two or three that are 7-1/8 - that's about as big as I'm willing to go, as I have yet to muster the bravery necessary to shrink a hat down and reblock it.
I'm pretty proud of my recently-swollen collection. I'm trying to slow down too. (The prices of late...
I can see why you'd want one. those look great. Llike a suit jacket, with tuxedo collar.
Myabe you should look up tuxedo jackets on eBay. I saw a few last week which were NOT black or white and looked to be sort of like this. They were listed as tuxedo jackets. Most people who wouldn't...
hmmmm...I always thought smoking jackets were the robe-type things. I'm guessing there's something else which is considered a smoking jacket, which is what you're looking for?
I got a robe-type 30s deco smoking jacket (only 1 pocket) on eBay for about $19. I lost quite a few others I bid...
Yeah...I was on sort of an eBay rampage. Sorry if I peed on anyone's parade. I think the worst is over, now. I'm the proud owner of twenty-five hats, and even with the second hat rack I just bought, I have run out of storage space for my hats, plus I have multiples in almost every color...
I am indeed. And at this point I've actually used it, and it's a beautiful thing. This block was modified by Fedora, who did a great, great job. I love the way the block looks.
By the way, I noticed your hat size is pretty small...I think there's a 6-7/8 block on eBay right now, if I...
Gus Van Sant was the name of the director. I didn't go see the remake, so I can't comment on it - actually, I guess my refusal to see it is a comment on it.
Using the fine size 7 block I got from Fedora, I managed to reblock my Royal Stetson Vitafelt. Not only does the hat have absolutely no taper now, but it's also a size 7 (it was 6-3/4).
You can see before and after photos here:

I...
Does it matter that the hat doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the block? I definitely could have gotten it lower, but I would have started to lose brim for sure. The hat was fairly short-crowned to begin with. You can see it on my hats page. (i would link to it but apparently fotki is...
Art, I'm pretty confident of the size because I can wear even 6-7/8 without too much discomfort (size 7 is my normal hat), though it's tight...but I could barely get this hat on my head!
here's what the hat currently looks like, sitting on its block...
hmmmm...
I just managed to get a 6-3/4 hat onto my size 7 block. (It wasn't easy.) It was definitely a 6-3/4 hat - it had a tag on the liner, it had the Stetson Philadelphia reorder tag under the sweatband, and when I took the sweatband and liner out, both had "6-3/4" written on them in...
Michaelson...you are so lucky. Sort of.
I had my '64 VW bug for about a year before I moved away from Pittsburgh (to the fair more suitable climate of Arizona), and I can tell you, that winter was a tough one. 6V was not happy about the winter. I recall that I had an oil heater thingy...
Art, that was a really great story.
My wife is a hairdresser, so I kind of feel like it would be stepping on toes to go somewhere else...but she has a lot of vinatge haircut instruction booklets and things like that. While we were traveling in Pittsburgh, she ended up in the hospital (the...
In Arizona, when it rains (not often, I can tell you), everyone drives INCREDIBLY slow. We don't get much rain here, so it really blows folks' minds here. However, the last time I was in LA duing a rainstorm, I happened to be on the freeway (it was night time and I had just started driving...
