    Wifebeaters?

For me, 'wifebeater' is a fairly modern term. When I was a kid we called singlets singlets or 'Garbo's'. Garbo's come in two colors, the 'white garbo' and dark blue, the 'blue garbo'. These are what the Garbo's (trashmen) wore when they ran from house to house emptying the bins. To me...

We used to call singlets 'white garbo's' or 'blue garbo's', because that what the garbo's (trashmen) wore. T

    The Munsters

Agreed. Clearly an investment return driven strategy. I wonder if it has anything to do with it being easier to raise capital from potential investors if the characters are already well known. The movie promotion would be a bit easier too I guess. T

    The Munsters

Sorry Lily, Morticia wins it for me. Gomez, Fester, and Lurch were pretty stylish too! I loved the Munster's cars, but I have always been a fan of the Charles Addams cartoons.

There are a few on ebay at the moment, so you shouldn't have too much trouble. I'm not sure about dating and styles for the buckles over the years, howver all the ones I have seen look pretty similar. T

Thats good news right there... With or without bracelet? I have a leather strap on an early 50's Super Oyster which is my current favourite. Had a job finding a stainless Rolex buckle, however it finishes it off nicely. I have an Explorer I and a Datejust on bracelets. Leather straps are...

An early to mid 50's Oyster should fit your budget if you like the look and can live with wind up. Personally I love wind up. Automatic movement and date window seem to be price point drivers. Shop around - part of the fun!
