I love this flick too. I admit that it's too broad, and all over the place, and not everything in it works. But I saw it in the movies when I was ten, and was totally smitten.

Watching some news, you'd think Some Like It Hot was Curtis' only movie.

I suppose it's his best known screen appearance, so that's what they're using as a short-hand to place him in context in people's minds - "you know, the guy in a dress from that Marilyn picture..." [huh]

That's because practically nobody under 40 (present company excluded, of course!) will watch anything older than Star Wars unless it appears at the top of some AFI Greatest list.

The first picture I saw TC in was The Great Race. It was probably in the later 60s when it was on network TV at night (movie of the week?). I watched it because of the cars. I was a 'motorhead' from as young as anyone can remember. My parents joke that my first words were, 'da,' 'ma,' and 'car.'

Its a shame as well as a disgrace that the academy of motion picture arts and sciences never got around to honor Tony Curtis, he once said he doesn't do movies any more...But that was because they don't make movies like his and others of that era. The Great Leslie in the Great Race! Although I prefer jack Lemmon as Professor Fate! Thanks for many enjoyable times at the movies RIP.
