I went in there a few months ago. The guy was incredibly nice and easy to talk with and he did mention he was planning some courses at some point. The prices felt expensive to me, but on the other hand, I've never been in a walk in vintage store that is specifically geared to my needs. So...
I absolutely notice this happening in the Los Angeles corporate/executive world. Which also has had an immediate trickle down effect. It's certainly a problem which I think we can only hope will one day be matched with a general push back in the other direction. But we're well on our way into...
Mighty Sparrow - Hot + Sweet was the album I bought that I thought would feature original recordings but to me didn't capture the brilliance of his earlier era.
Personally, I am not into Soca which is what most of these artists gravitated to later in life I've noticed. I much prefer the more...
this is GREAT! I've been quietly watching for vintage bulldog accessories & '39 World's Fair items for awhile, although the timing hasn't been on my side so far!
Anyway, you're a guy after my own heart, cheers! :D
Anyone into old Calypso dating back from the 20's-early 60's?
I love it! The only problem is that people generally associate Harry Belafonte & what the sound evolved into over the 60's-80's with Calypso. But the original music sung by Trinidadians is smart, funny, sexy, political & well...
I agree! Aesthetically and otherwise, they can/did exist in the same universe.
Did anyone see the trailer for the follow up film by the guys that made the silent cthulhu?
It goes a little.. something like this!
I think the recent documentary, Girl 27 backs up your point. I used to look up to LB Mayer for the films he green-lit. Now, I'll stick with King Vidor thank you very much.
About 6 months ago I saw a posting for a wonderful looking classic movie palace in Long Beach, CA. They were screening a double feature of Dracula & Frankenstein, but now for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the theatre or the accompanying website :eusa_doh:
One of my most...
She gave a really intense interview with Robert Osborne as an old lady. She had a lot of serious hardships over her life and yet was an absolute doll, life didn't break her - even though it tried. You really just wanted to take this old lady and hug her by the end of the interview. It's on...
hahaha I was thinking the same thing!
Edison was a crook, my money's on the death-ray building mad scientist over out and out crooks any day of the week! I'm convinced he stole half if not most of the spotlight from the Lumiere Brothers aswell. Death to Thomas Edison! oh wait.... lol
I crumbled and ordered one aswell!!!
I kept picking up the phone and then putting it down, and then looking at these pictures and picking up the phone again! hahaha
They seem very nice over there, I can't wait for the certain package in the mail! :D
Sweet & Hot based out of Canada. It's a great weekly free podcast radio show, 2 hours long usually. It is really very varied and gets me through my workday very nicely!
I missed that one I'm afraid! I did just watch Heroes for Sale though! Again, what a weird movie! The twists and turns he puts his characters through. I mean, it seems like it goes out of his way to find stories that absolutely torture his characters! And mostly they play out as mini-epics...
