Decade that was the peak of hat quality?

Moon I understand the general comment that the competition in the field was dwindling but the drop in quality has me at a loss. I’ll compare Ford Motor Company right now. They are basically getting out of the car business and are only going to make SUV’s and trucks. I can’t imagine that GM...

Decade that was the peak of hat quality?

I’m not trying to be funny as I always like to learn. What exactly made the hats in the mid 50’s go to $#!t? Was it the craftsmanship, materials or both? Steven

Ask a question, get an answer

I personally like the Ramsay without the feather and the brim snapped down in the front. To me those small changes and the crown make it a winner. Steven

What Did You Drink Last Night?

My wife and I had a glass of Duplin Winery’s Sangria with our lunch. Sweet and citrusy. Duplin makes a host of wines here in South Carolina. Steven

    Scala hats?

I just wanted to share my experience with my first Scala hat. It’s a navy toyo straw with a 2 1/2” brim, 4 1/2” crown and an inline braid/weave band. I spent $25 on it and I’m well pleased with the hat. The quality is great and it looks well made (much better than I was expecting) and the fit...

    Post New Hats Here!

I received my $25 navy blue Scala straw hat today. 2 1/2” brim and a 4 1/2” crown.Overall all I’m pleased. It took a little shaping because the shipping took it’s toll on the box. The brim was very floppy but I gave it a light spray of starch and it firmed up nicely. Steven

    The Fedora Lounge 4.0

Nathan I have had some of the same problems as stated above when I have been in the middle of tying a post. I have gotten a message saying the web-page encountered a problem. I was posting on my iPhone at those times and the page reloaded 3 times with the same message. I would the loose whatever...

What hat are you waiting for today?

I’m currently waiting on a navy toyo straw with a 2” brim and a 5”crown. I think from the picture it looks more like 2 ½” but I’ll see when it arrives. I don’t have and blue hats so this will be a change for me. Steven

What was the last TV show you watched?

I watched Westworld Season 2 episode 4 Riddle of the Sphinx. I’m really enjoying this series on HBO. Great cast and stories in multiple timelines. My favorite clip from episode 4 “death is always true”. Anti-hero Ed Harris as the Man in Black delivers justice to robots that have taken over a...

    Families of the Lounge

My wife snapped this picture of me and our two sons at lunch Sunday. The only thing that would have made lunch better is if our daughter wasn’t working and had been there. My hat is sitting in the booth next to my wife :). Steven
