    We need bigger caps

I've been on a long term hunt for vintage looking caps. Peterman's Jonathan Richard caps (tweed and linen) aren't bad. They aren't perfect, but through peterman's ebay store you can pick em up for cheap when they come up! I'd like something like this, maybe a bit more bulky...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

So you're saying just measure one of my hats that fits correctly and head off into the sunset of ebay victories? No 15 year old needed? Lots of sense going on up there... lots of sense indeed! Next time I'll think about thinking about what I say before hitting send :eusa_doh: cheers!

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I knew I should have paid attention in math class! Surely there's a formula to determine the circumference of a circle (or oval) if you know the height and width.... I'll ask the next 15 year old I see :p

examples of black suits in the golden age

Aha! These people could by all means be crooks and have ill will in their hearts, hence it coming out in their choice of fabric! :p But seriously, you may very well be right! I'd just as much like to dispel an inaccurate view as illustrate a fact. Also color schemes and what people paired...

    Putting it all together

Personally, I don't know if I'm feeling this combination. In the opposite direction, I am anxiously awaiting these in the mail... It's been a long hunt for a pair of original ankle-high dress shoes/boots that are my size and affordable! I've always thought wearing a suit with these adds...

examples of black suits in the golden age

I recently picked up this '39 union tagged beauty.... It's actually black as pitch even though it looks gray in these pictures. I know black was back in use by the 50's. But I wonder if black in the 30's went hand in hand with an air of danger. Maybe not, I feel like I read it somewhere...

examples of black suits in the golden age

Can anyone share pictures of black suits being worn? Is it true that the color was strictly reserved for evening attire, funerals and self-styled bad men!? I guess what I'm looking for is visual documentation of gangsters and their lot wearing black, or disproving the myth by showing your...

    Golden Era Hallowe'en Party

I too live in Astoria, it's a great place! I haven't run these in a few years, but if classic morbid stuff is your thing.. I used to run a series of original old time spook show shows at the Coney Island Museum. We had double feature 30's-40's films, with morbid magicians that would conjure...

thanks guys! :) yes, the hat's his now! Hard to do... but my dad's the WW2 nut more than I am (I'm more interested in 20's and pre-code films/culture) Our basement where I grew up is filled with model airplanes he's been building since he was 10 years old and now creating this museum by...

this morning my dad and I watched as three original late 1920's biplanes took off reenacting the same cross country flight path the original US Post Office Air Mail Pilots took 90 years ago! Much more pictures to follow... btw, my dad is wearing his new gift - my gus miller fedora! It fits...

    Vintage Style Suspenders

where are the top ones from? they've got a different design to them, I like em! :) I wear thin leather braided suspenders and always get compliments on them. Everyone always think they're vintage. they ain't! :p I wouldn't suggest the ralph lauren ones, they crapped out pretty quick, the...

    Bow Ties

ah-cha! how about the pointed ends? did those come in during a certain era? is it acceptable to wear them without giving them that final twist so that the pointed ends are on the outside front area? (this I would think lessen the lifespan of the tie due to the added stress on the fabric..?)...
