That’s kind of like what I did. Four different Akubra felt hats, two days, laser thermometer, and I wore each for 10 minutes. I’m not sure what else can really be done further. From my readings the temperature difference is so slight that you would have to always walk around with a thermometer...
Ok, I seem to be the only one taking any kind of measurements. So at least for me, I have some data to go by. I’ve tested (un-scientifically) four Akubras. All Imperial grade felt. The same time of day, same outdoor temperature, my same bald head :), and different color felts.
Sydney, Regency...
Ok I had to change up a little because a standard thermometer did not register. I used a laser after wearing both hats outside for 10 minutes each. The outside temperature is 57 degrees Fahrenheit.

Thomas, the information I was speaking about was in reference to the material that makes our firefighting protective jackets and pants.

If you are looking for felt hats I’d second the Akubra. I’m in South Carolina and I’m sure the weather can be pretty close to yours on most days. I have the Akubra Sydney and Stylemaster and both are great hats. Less expensive than the Mercury. The Sydney comes open crown so you can crease it...
I’m glad I didn’t have an issue with fees. What color did you order? I’m pleased with the Imperial grade and I’m sure the Deluxe is nicer so enjoy your new hat.
