I had Squamous cell carcinoma so my doctor didn’t need to insist about the hats much at all. I’m an old soul and I’ve always loved old pictures of men wearing fedoras. So my hat wearing is practical as well as enjoyable. I’m blessed.

Since my diagnosis of skin cancer three years ago I wear a full brim fedora daily. The only days I don’t wear a hat are the 24 hour shifts I work at the fire department. My chosen fedora come with me and I wear it leaving shift the following morning.

Thanks guys for sharing that link about Art. I sure wish I had one of his hats. It was great seeing a true craftsman at work. His hats are works of art, no pun intended.

I wore my new Stratoliner today for the first time. While I’m very pleased overall, I must say that I am disappointed on the gold embossing of the Stratoliner logo on the sweatband. It is almost completely worn off. I’ve worn my Akubras for months and the gold embossing looks like I just took...
I will go with both of your assessments because both of you have way more hat experiences than I. I was going off this older thread about reshaping brims: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/brim-shaping.44929/
Thanks for keeping me straight :)

I understand your concern about the brim but I’m sure it can be steamed and reshaped. I just changed the factory crease on my modern Stratoliner and it was a fairly quick process with a tea kettle. I’m sure a brim would be able to be adjusted with a little steam.

I received my Silverbelly Stratoliner today. While not a Premier Stratoliner, I am thoroughly pleased with it’s quality. The color is exactly what I wanted and I was able to re-bash it easily to my preferred diamond crease. I tightened the front punch as well making the diamond a little tighter...

I ordered a Stetson Stratoliner in silverbelly today from one2miniranch. The Stratoliner was the first hat that caught my eye so if it’s half as good as my Akubras I will be pleased.

My wife and I watched two episodes of Epix’s “War of the Worlds”. We both enjoyed it. It’s a different take on the classic movie and is set in Europe. I think the character development is great and when subtitles are used they flow really well. It’s kind of eerie to watch during the Covid19...
Season 3 of Ozark. My wife and I are just 3 episodes in and it is great so far.
I also finished watching all three seasons of Peter Gunn. Now I’m watching Route 66 on Amazon. Great nostalgic television.
