    Breastfeeding In Public

no, I like to see women breast feeding because it is so evocative of new life. Bottle feeding is different because inside I know it ain't so good for the kids (but lets not thead drift on that either). I guess I like the naturalness of breast feeding. I suspect I might be feeling broody...

    Breastfeeding In Public

but defecation is nasty and potentially hazardous, and clothes...well, that's a big complex subject lets not thread drift already.... Breast feeding is totally different. Boobs are nice, and little babies growing by the gulp is even nicer.

    Breastfeeding In Public

I love to see it. And no, not for sexual reasons, I find it's the one thing that instantly de-sexualizes breasts for me. I just love seeing those little babbies and experiencing that sense of new life growing around me.

    Frightening Trend - Article.

given the close association of suit-wearing with business leaders, politicians and gangsters I've always found it hard to buy the idea it somehow equates with moral virtue. As I've said before in similar threads, some of the finest people I've known can't even match their socks.

Need a bit of auction advice

actually Rosie 96% positive is pretty poor compared to most ebay sellers. Go into their feedback and check out a few of their negs and neutrals and see what you think. They sound dodgy to me. Also, divide their total feedback by their negs and neutrals combined (neutrals are just polite negs)...

What do you think of this coat?

the photo is of one I sold on ebay a few months ago. Yes, rubberized canvas, the original material invented by Charles Macintosh in the early 19th century. They come up regularly on ebay UK, often near mint, and are cheaper than the "1903" knock off. Only problem is the tape has often come...

What do you think of this coat?

hey, looking again at the link I see they've even copied the unique double buckle! The originals are rubberized canavas (macintosh) with taped seams. Absolutely beautifully made, like most WW2 british gear. And you'll be pleased to hear that plenty turn up on ebay, usually in big sizes as...

What do you think of this coat?

baggers has rumbled it: it's pretty much a copy of the WW2 British army Despatch Riders coat. And you can bet it won't be a patch on the quality of the original.

I was going to bid on that one but I found myself financially embarrassed. I think that suit in a mustardy-brown Donegal tweed would be my ideal. Still looking.....

    The Spanish Civil War

THE MILITIAS The military aspect of the revolution of July 1936 was the Militia system. Where the Nationalist rebels were defeated the workers began to organize themselves into voluntary militias to take the fight to the enemy. These units were initially based around the various political...

    The Spanish Civil War

THE REVOLUTION The working-class counter insurgency that suppressed the military rising in much of eastern and southern Spain was accompanied by a dramatic social revolution. This is usually described as an Anarchist revolution because the backbone of the movement was the Anarcho-Syndicalist...

Ever Fancied A German secret police Overcoat ?

right....were they like this? This is a 1950s oilskin work coat with a blanket collar. whilst I'm at it here's some pix of a rare full length brit leather coat, made by Wareings of Northampton. They made a lot of (mostly waist length) leather jackets in the mid 20th century, and were...

Which book/movie affected you the most?

when I was a kid I devoured WW2 books as well as films. One book that has stayed with me is MAQUIS by George Millar. Millar was a British SOE agent and the book is about his experiences with the maquis in central France during 1944. For some reason I seem to read it in times of crisis, such...

Which book/movie affected you the most?

we're not talking actual favourites, right? For films I think I was very affected by all those 1950s British war movies like the Dam Busters, Reach for the Sky, Carve her Name with Pride…... I soaked them up. Poor old dad had to take me, though I should think the last thing he wanted was to...

Lena, I love that site! Having just written a summary of the Nationalist terror campaign I found it very therapeutic myself.

    The Spanish Civil War

THE WHITE TERROR The “white terror” behind Nationalist lines was on a totally different scale to the “red terror” and of a very different character. I would put it like this: with the red terror we are in the familiar territory of brutal civil war. With the white terror we enter the...
