Thanks Bob.
Well, these guys work terrifically hard and under a lot of pressure - and they play hard too (they all went off drinking afterwards and it went on 'til 6.00AM!!). But then, they're all young and good on 'em.
I felt like the dullest person there, if I'm honest. They'd all been zipping...
I agree. For all of email's cleverness and wonder of instant trans-continental communication (and including texting and typing such as here on a forum) there has never been greater miscommunication in the world as tone is so difficult to convey. Netiquette is not observed as it once was was when...
I was at an office Christmas dinner party at my girlfriend's boss's house the other week - and her office crew were all there and they're a terrific and very like-able young bunch (in their 30's and early 40's) and all are in the swanky business world and are where it's at with their beautiful...
I think it's great that a fellow Lounger's lack of presence gets noticed ...
It's good how, although we aren't all "friends" in the truest physical sense around a real bar (alas), with our common jacket interests across the different states and countries and continents, there's a nice sense of...
Oh, is he now?! How did he get that gig?!?
And I agree.
And if it's a Stuka that gets him with one of those archetypal-Michael Bay-shots of the bomb being released at high altitude and the camera viewing the bomb and following it down as it descends right on poor Harry and in the last split...
Oh dear. You mean I'll have to get a new A2 one day to put the smaller XII patch on? (as I still think it's spot-on!)
Aww, alright then. If I must ...! :)
I think honouring the crew of Dinah Might would be a great idea with the nametag.
I look forward to seeing it when it's all done!
And you...
MY ELC RW B-3 came out for the first time this morning. Marvelous. I mean, really. It was a windchill of -21C this morning and it shrugged off the cold wind with aplomb.
The ELC RW B-6 had done very well thus far these many weeks ... but the B-3 is just another league up. And with a nice C-3...
Hi Kowalski,
Great job on the aging process with tea! Much better!!
If you would like me to send you my spare XV leather patch to lay on your jacket to see how an incised, painted leather patch looks against the leather, send me a PM with your address and I happily can mail it over to you.
But...
It's been chilly all week here and the ELC RW B-6 has been on for weeks now on the early re-dawn dog walks and the snow arrived on Sunday ... and it's gotten colder and I've lifted out the Aero C-3 to go over it and it's a great combo and it was just okay this morning and it was -8C, which is...
You never know, Breezer. You may go in wanting an A2 and end up coming away with something else entirely...
I had had an A2 for over 18 years and then wanted a good upgrade from it and I got an ELC 352nd A2 - and I really liked it and then I wanted that ELC Star Sportswear as well, but got the...
Hello Breezer,
I see that you're in Scotland already - and I think the best thing is to make a day of heading over to Aero and trying on as many A2's as you can. There really is no substitute for that. You can ask many fine people here for their learned opinions - but all of them are worthless...
Hello Kowalski,
Thanks for the kind comments about my B-3 - and my word, that's an old thread of mine you found! My B-3 jacket is still going strong too (as is the old rescue dog there on the photo!) and I haven't changed the patches as I love them.
I have, however, changed the patches on my...
Hi Kowalski,
Your link shows what looks like an original patch and the backing is the best way to judge if it is original (other than using a black light to test if they light up or not) - and looking at the backing, I am sure they are original. I think they just look somewhat generic for the...
The final outdoor photos have the jacket looking great, Kowalski! It's sometimes hard to judge a jacket with indoor flash photography, but the natural light shows the jacket as its best and it looks fine indeed.
I think you did a good job there of taking a jacket that has some historical value...
Hi Vince,
Using my ELC RW B-6 as a reference here (which has the same thickness of sheepskin as a D-1 - and which is a general standard thickness as a rule, but Aero's is a little thicker and fluffier - therefore warmer), I'd say they're fairly comparable but it rather depends on the down...
I was on the morning dog walks in the dark this morning and thinking about your tragic dilemma here - and, IMHO, I still think that a lateral move to a B-6 is the solution - as I was wearing mine at the time! It's the perfect Fall/Autumn jacket jacket and mine has been worn daily for many weeks...
