I wore a 9D for years, but the last little while have been buying 9.5D in most shoes, as I get a better fit. Maybe my feet grew? The 9.5 Alden 405 was too big, so I went with a 9, and it's perfect.
It should be fine. With the cowhide (as long as its a smooth finish) a little conditioner as mentioned should soften up any stiffness. If it's a sueded finish I wouldn't put a conditioner on it.
I just visited Baker's Build a boot. They seemed to have changed it. You used to be able to build a smoke jumper from scratch, and make it 6" tall. Now you can only select from a few pre-configured models, and make some changes to them, but all of them start at 8", and are more expensive...
First of all, welcome to the forum. I hope you are able to enjoy your time here, and benefit from the vast amount of knowledge pooled here.
I am like you, searching for that perfect motorcycle jacket. I have 2 Aeros in horsehide, and have had other jackets. Don't get me wrong, I love my...
Well I will say that I usually wear Alden Indys (the 403 CXL's) with my Halfbelt or my Barnstormer. I have a pair of Whites Semi Dress in tan, but I don't usually wear those with my brown jackets. I would like to get a pair of Whites in dark brown to wear with my jackets. If I get a black...
OK, OK, you've officially convinced me to go through Johnson Leather for my next jacket. Looks great, fit looks spot on. I think that jacket in black with a wind flap and zip sleeves is exactly what I have in mind. Sadly, it won't be for several months.
Question, is that collar standard...
Peacoat, thank you so much for chiming in. I read some of your previous posts in other threads regarding Johnson's and the leathers they offered, so having additional information about contacting them, sizing issues and such is very helpful, and pushes me further toward the Johnson camp. I...
Thanks.
I'm sure I'll at least contact Johnson's before I purchase anything. I do like the idea of being able to customize the jacket. Is it best to call or email, and who would be the best to talk to?
Thanks again.
So its been a while since I originally posted this question. The input has been great, and I appreciate the response. I still have yet to purchase the jacket I inquired about, but have been happy using my 50's halfbelt for riding. I do still plan on purchasing a new black jacket sometime, I'm...
My riding jacket is a custom 50's halfbelt from Aero. I don't know what the function of the actual halfbelt is, but as a MC jacket, it's more style than substance. It works fine, but does not come standard with a bi-swing back, which IMHO is more suited to riding. But I love the classic look...
I have had three Aero horsehide jackets, 2 of them were jerky seal A-2 horsehides, one the FQHH in brown. Before I bought any of them, I owned a Wested Horsehide Indy Jacket. I had the same impression you did about the hide, in that it was real lackluster. It was a tough hide, but showed no...
I like brown leather with khaki, but I think black leather looks good with a dark olive drab cargo pant. That's what I wear for motorcycle riding, if I'm not wearing jeans.
Although I own wingtip shoes, and will always own and wear wingtip shoes, I would humbly suggest a good pair of cap toe shoes. I think they are just as dressy, but can also be worn with more casual (Dockers style) cotton trousers a little easier than wingtips. I also suggest the Allen Edmonds...
No, but I have a very similar 50's Halfbelt in midweight Jerky seal HH, and love it. I bought it specifically as a lighter weight jacket, cotton lined. Very versatile, I can use it reasonably well in cooler weather with a thermal layer underneath, or in warmer weather with a t-shirt for...
So I have to share a positive story about my Whites. Slightly long post.
Those who have a pair of Whites know well how well made they are, but I wanted to share anyway. I tend to wear my Semi dress or my Alden 403 Indy boots as my every day boots. My casual wear is a pair of Khaki or cargo...
