I totally hear you guys about the traditional design. I have a short torso and at this length I'm already getting a little bit of a barrel chested bell shape in the side view (which I hate), not the slim tapered look I've seen in others. I don't know what's causing it, but I figured if I made...
Here it is with t-shirt. These are low rise jeans and I wore them as they are what I wore with my HWM fit pics and they became my baseline. Both the HWM and this BR are 25.5" length, which works great for low and normal rise jeans, I feel. The HWM is perfect.
On my order, I'm having the front...
Thanks! All great comments and as you know, figuring out the "best" increment on sizing is a bit of a gamble and maddening. But yes, the cardigan is binding them up a touch - I'll post a pic without and you can see the normal length. FWIW, my HWM has 26.25" and they are perfect for that jacket...
Yes, the Vicenza is spectacular! Having a CXL FQHH and this will be a perfect duo. And I'm joking about Carrie and Wade forbidding me. We all knew it was a great fit, but I was thinking about it being future proof and gaining weight. I guess I'll just keep starving myself... ;)
Hey guys,
I swore to myself I was going hold off on this until next year, but I’m so damned pleased with my premier HWM, that I pulled the trigger on a Board Racer. The CXL FQHH HWM is heavy enough that it will probably be November/December before I can wear it. Soooo, I definitely needed a...
What a fantastic story! I can only imagine how thrilled you are to have such a beautiful jacket delivered in such a memorable way. Congratulations all the way around - now that's a family heirloom jacket! Cheers
Great hat, by the way!
Yes, the modification compulsion is an insanity... I totally agree. And I probably will just leave it alone (but very glad to know there are options :))
My jacket is black and I made the mistake of comparing the sample I got from Thurston which sold me on the FQHH - it's this shiny, gorgeous...
Good point - I definitely want to play around with this. I was just going to use chamois to apply and buff, is that a proper technique? It sounds like the horse hair brush talk above has a questionable history, and maybe not the kind of advice I should follow... :)
And now I'll add Monitor to that list of leather heroes. Very good to know all of this. I needed to wax my boots, so I'll track down some Saphire creme and try a little spot on the jacket.
I grew up with too many shiny leather clad heroes like Lou Reed, the Ramones & the leather guy from the Village People...
Ugh, I hate repeatedly misspelling words but neither way looks right! Shininess/shinyness.
And I'm definitely not interested in a uniform, persistently brilliant finish. I like the idea of high parts of folds being shiny while the creases develop grain, etc... Similar to the tumbled FQHH. I just wanted to tumble it myself :)
I didn't realize you could do such a thing... I was kind of kidding about waxing, but now that you mention it.
I do love the shinyness of the FQHH sample I got and my jacket is definitely duller. It shines more in pictures which is interesting. I didn't want to get garish, I just wanted to...
Blasphemer!
I was curious if there's a wax I could get to buff this thing to a mirror-like shine. It's not as shiny as the sample I got and really wanted high shine.
Very good to know, Edward. I work in Manhattan and have quite a hike, which prompted my concern. It's black FQHH and doesn't have quite the rich brown undertones as the sample I received from Thurston. Copper patina would be fantastic, but I've already noticed on the inside bottom trim the...
