Is it just me or my computer, or do the Seal Vicenza jackets that have been posted appear less red-brown and exhibit less color variation than the samples?
I have a DD racer. Both DD's and Chapman's racers are J100 repros. I am happy with the DD jacket -- the quality is excellent. That said, I've seen the GW in person, and the quality is even higher - but I'm not sure how much it matters. The GW was perfect, literally. Every damn stitch was...
Irvins so often wear the owner, rather than the other way around. I often see guys that just don't look quite right in that particular jacket. No such problem here - that looks great wdw. I don't think I can pull off that jacket...wish I could.
I called Spidi (which apparantly is located in Vicenza -- kind of funny given the name of Insurrection's new FQHH) and they said the jacket is not imported to the US because they can't even keep up with demand in the EU. So I ordered one from them directly. Amazingly, the confirmation email...
Looks great. That's very similar to the order I placed last week, except in Seal. Straight yoke across back, split back, no kidney panel, horizontal chest pockets. Like a short J100 without the bottom flare. I think that might be the winning basic/classic cafe design -- but we'll see once...
I already tried the Robinson. Didn't fit. The medium was too big, and the small too small. I was on a wait list when it first came out earlier this year -- super disappointed that it didn't fit after waiting months to get it. But the guys at Union Garage were good to deal with. I recently...
I have been looking for a waxed cotton riding jacket for a long time. Well, in reality, I've been looking for something to wear on the bike from time to time that isn't leather, especially in cooler weather. I like the look and features of the Spidi Worker Wax jacket and am thinking of picking...
I never would have picked that lining when choosing jacket options, but it looks great. Looks like I need to reconsider my typically conservative choices. That really is a great combo.
dm, thanks for the fit advice. The info on the smallness of the pattern is great to have.
As for the jacket looking too busy -- from the pics, I don't think so. I think it looks killer. Maybe it looks different in person...I dunno.
I'm guessing you get quite a few compliments or inquiries...
I was wondering the same thing...how many more do you have inbound, pawineguy?
And I'm not jealous in the slightest. Not one little bit. Nope. Not at all.
In any event, we need fit pics when you get your latest creations.
I like the tumbled hide -- looks like its got 6 months of wear on it right out of the box. And that lining is rather festive. Cool combo.
Does the antique brass hardware always look sort of gray, or is that just how it shows up in pics?
That's a great jacket. The split cowhide is great stuff. Months back, I had asked the folks at Aero if they had any left to make me the trucker, but they don't. I don't like the flimsiness (for lack of a better term) of the suede, but the split cowhide would be great. But its a no go.
That would result in a third layer of leather over the pocket. That might be an issue with FQHH. But I see what you're saying. In all honesty, I'm not a stickler for historical details in outerwear like I know some folks are, so the V inserts stopping at the pocket isn't a huge deal to me. I...
