Bing, Bob & Dorthey on TCM

Did anyone happen to catch the three Road Show pictures last night with Bing, Bob & Dorthey on TCM? They played The Road to Morrocco, The Road to Utopia and the Road to Bali. After thos three it was a Bing solo in A Conneticut Yankey in King Arthurs Court. Quite an enjoyable eving of classic...

    The Third Man on TCM

Quite a simple plot really. Man fakes death to hide from the international police. Another man doesnt seem to believe that his friend is dead. Add a few endearing characters, a couple of leads and minor bread crumbs along the trail and you have a mystery. So the story goes. I guess it also helps...

    Cinderella Man

Watched this one last night. I completely enjoyed this one. Great story, fantastic visuals and a top drawer director & cast. they even managed to cast Jim Braddocks Granddaughter in this film. I loved how they used the Maple Leaf Gardens as the Madison Square Garden backdrop. Ron Howard as usual...

    The Third Man on TCM

Did anyone happen to catch this on Sunday? Baron Kurtz, I would be supprised if you didn't. Loved the way this one was put together, and all you had to set the mood was music from a dulcimer. Thoroughly enjoyed it again. Cheers! Dan

    King Kong countdown....

I certanly hope so SC. I just haven't been thrilled with the character selections that he has chosen. Most of them I think are just an outstretch of himself and not too much of a developed character. He may yet prove himself in this film, but it still remains to be seen. Cheers! Dan

    King Kong countdown....

I'm quite sure Peter Jackson won't defile the story at all. Heck, he even put the lost 'bug canyon' sequence into his new film and tried to recreate it for the old film. He did a great job with LOTR, and from what I've seen he has a great love of Kong as well. I think he'll do justice to the...

    The Phantom

But even the old serial films had their flaws & blunders. That's what made them so great. You looked beyond the impossibilities. I mean look at Raiders of the Lost Ark. How could someone travel that far to a submarine base lashed to the periscope. He would have drowned. But that's what makes...

This will be fun... Let's cast a remake of It's A Wonderful Life.

    Old vs New

Yes, there is something wonderful about holding a small piece of history. One of my favorites is the old photographs od the towns I've grown up in. A small freeze frame in time of buildings, people and cars long gone. Some of the old buildings remain so you can actually touch the building that...

    The Phantom

Enjoyed all three films myself. What I like the most is the fact that they are comic biiks come to life. Ultra stylized with just enough reality to keep them grounded. Having had collected comic books for years and back in the day wanting to be a penciler for Marvel, I totally appreciate the...

    Old vs New

Which brings me back to my point of the newer technology making people not so capable of doing a "craft" or "trade". So many things are done with computers today that a good craftsman or mechanic or tradesman is hard to find. It's all push button. We have a couple of field survey crew in our...

    Old vs New

Ladies & Gentlemen, I think that we have hit on a very common belief amongst us. The old ways of the working man and the woman as the housmaker (and the true head of the household) has gone the way of the dodo because of womens lib. My girlfriend believes that it was this movement that, yes, may...

    Old vs New

My Grand parents on my fathers side faired well durring the depression thanks to the smarts of my Grandmother. They were a taylor and seamstress respectively. My Grandmother bought into a parnership at the textile mill she worked at. They weren't rich. But they had a roof over their heads...

    De-Lovely Clothing

Ah! Thank you for the correction. Hate it when I get it wrong. Oh well. And I'd have to agree with Lauren in that point. Most Gays didn't broadcast their preference to the general public. But it was more open on the big cities like Hollywood & New York. In the films we have to take the bad with...
