Anouther cabinet card, this time from Moline, Illinois. Judging by the style of card I would guess circa 1900 or so......GREAT hats......note the cigars....

Ok, this is an undated "half fold-half fold" sales brochure. Dates between 1881 when the buisness was founded to 1919 when The Baltimore Bargan House was sold and became the American Wholesale Corporation. The styles and names shown would date the advertising to 1901 or shortly there after .

When I get home I will start photographing some of the catalogs. But for now, here is a picture of one of my Stetson hat pins (I have two), patent dated on the back 1896 on an inserted paper label. They probably used it until the 20's I would guess. This will fit the bill for now.....
Enjoy...
Thanks everyone. It will actually be fun for me...getting out stuff from my "collections" and looking them over again.....and most of all.....SHARING. After all we are each a curator for a limited time only.....

Here is a new thread I am dedicating to all things (and companies) HATS.....with some other associated items including original photographs from my collection of people and their hats. This will all date before 1920 with a special emphasis on the mid to later 19th century (1800's).
Attached is...
Yes....the beginnings of what would soon to be the Stetson 100 (10X).....their BEST top of the line, supposed to be 100 percent beaver......(though there is still some debate about that), little debate about the high quality and finish of those (and the 7X's).

Holy heck........and a size 8.....wow.....even with me a size 7 1/2....I could probably make TWO hats out of it and have enough felt left over for a water bucket!
M
Bet they had a whole TEAM of hatters working on that one....
Yes....and I have two of them!!! The other is a Stratton (yes the uniform hat people) Long hair in brown!!!! I think It is posted somewhere here.......Stratton used to make all kinds of hats years ago.....
M
Not sure if I posted this here...had it a while....it is a "rough weather go to" hat for me. It is an early 60's Beaver hats "Major" with a great long hair finish..................looks a lot better in person...hats are so darn hard to photograph.
As you can see the bow is of definite European...
OK.........Glider............now I want to go!!!!!;) While you are out and about be sure to check out Hats Plus and the Optimo store. The Optimo store is a good place to look around and dream. Their hats are WAY expensive......
Darn you......now I will not get a thing done today for thinking...
