There is something weird going on with the Cafe Racer...
It is a style that is always linked to the Ton-up Boys, and british motorcycling industry, i mean it is even named after a british thing. Yet if you google search "Ton-up boys" i dare you to find an old picture of a british rider wearing a...
I think that something like 000 steel wool will get rid if the colour without having enough power to attack the letters, it is a lot less agressive than sand paper.
I would make something like this out of cardboard to protect the leather and then go at it with steel wool.
You laugh, but this is pretty much how i break in all my jackets...
I'm a musician, i either work from home, or with people who don't care what i wear.
When i have a new jacket i will literally wear it at home pretty much like a jumper, i have it on from the time i wake up to the time i go to...

I have a modern Golden bear jacket in a leather that looks similar to the one you posted, it is IMO not worth the money.
It is very much a mall jacket, the leather is thin and characterless, the fleece is thin, stitching is ok but nothing special.
I got mine used for $200 and i think it was...
To me its not about time but about what you do in them.

Personally i wouldn't use glue, it has low shearing strength when used between hard surfaces.
I used a quick set epoxy, the ones that come in a dual syringe. I also roughed out all the surfaces of the hollow pole with a strip of sandpaper so the epoxy had something to grab onto. I tried to not...

Like @ton312 i have successfully repaired the same think using two part epoxy.
Apply a little, press the part on and use a clamp to hold it on for the first hour, don't use too much or when you squeeze it will go everywhere. The one i repaired has been used and can be snapped on and off and it...
I do have a few Vansons:
90s Scout (Black Chap leather):
2008 CHP2 (comp weight):
2016 Chopper (comp weight):
2016 Commando (x150):
All of them are made from great quality leather, and i have nothing bad to say about it.
I do often read about the "magical 90s comp weigh leather"...
Man, you live dangerously! I wouldn't trust a "local taylor" with a leather jacket, seen too many horrors...
Fingers crossed its not a hack job! Let us know how it went.
