1922 and we have some really great Stetson hats....:):):):):):)
Note the test sample hats......they did this then much like the promo and test hats now.....never saw in an ad thought .....they do talk about the employee contests for hat design in the employee newsletter "the Hat Box".
Note also...
Study these awsome hats of our members.....in the third one....the front hat is an OR clone..........;)
Common dimensions......thin crown ribbon.....thin bound brim edge........often a windcord attached.

AND
Dis one of us get this one?!?!?!? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Harry-Rolnick-Resistol-Fedora-7-5-8-/132564778841?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=I7TofTydeeNbQxtunDPIZ7kiXu4%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc\
I could not keep track of it as i was gone over the weekend...
With new examples every day I am not sure you can unequivocally say one hat or another never came that way. In my ad example the "Whippet" shown had a custom edge (not it's later well know bound edge) and cost more. I have seen many ads by many companies that stated such and such a model was...
Here is you answer......1937....the brown hat. This was Stetsons firs use of the name before they changed it over to another model they renamed. That is cool you found the 30's example.....

We actually have some watch people around in a couple of antique malls nearby......all serviced and reasonable prices..nice selections too....would require quite a road trip for you....I cannot think of any near you.
I am always leary of internet sales....though if you get one cheap...
I really like how you have that creased......fore and aft pinches......I did that with my modern silverbelly Premier Strat......get a ton of compliments on that one.....

Funny about your windcord ordeal......your secret is safe here;)
Not for that vintage. I have actually been seeing a lot of 60's Stetsons (and even own a few, two even came mint in the original box) that for some reason have no tags under the sweat......I have noticed this with some of their westerns too. The westerns even go back to the 50's.......and...
Here is one I almost forgot.....a Portis...no model name....just "Sterling" which for them is a quality level of the felt. It does not fit me (it is a size 7) but I would not part with it as it is a 50's model sold locally. In rough shape........it is still cool........
Note how the windcord...
They are ok.....but the premier model is better....softer......nicer......first time buyer can get 10 % off and they do have frequent sales....and they will crease it for you if you do not trust your skills.
