If they're doing a remake anyway, I would highly recommend you suggest they bring the higher buckle a bit lower down/closer with the bottom one.
Cut looks solid.
I haven't heard any complaints about the collar flapping about when the lapels are snapped down. It isn't just the stiffness of the SH in particular. I think the shape and downward angle of the collar (shared across models) help ensure that it stays in place.
Correct. 613 jackets don’t have snaps on the collar, plus the snaps they do have are plain. They also feature stars on the epaulets. 618/118 have snaps on the collar and the snaps themselves are branded with a cool bullet sort of design.
All of these jackets are slim.
The 613S (SH is the same thing except horsehide) designation means the 60s/70s cut, so more accurate to the punk rock era look, but lacking the underarm footballs and other riding-based enhancements (like pocket angles).
The 613 (non-S)/618 are equally slim in...
Good to see the feedback from all of you. I will ask Vanson to not add a zip in liner, then, but to place the snaps for their optional liner that they sell separately. (I have them on my cafe racer and they’re completely out of the way.)
The 613S(H) fits the same (size wise) as the 613/618 (or 118 but go down one tagged size), except marginally narrower shoulders at the same size.
The difference with the non-S jackets is their slightly different back shape, which is more rounded, and the gain in range of motion from having the...
UK used to be about £40 (including shipping, so even something fairly cheap, if ordered from overseas, could get there quick) just a few years ago. It was miserable.
Huh?
This is good to know. My Perfectos all have the quilted liner (one has an extra nice one but sadly the jacket is a little too small) so I figured the versatility of a zip in could be nice. I was thinking of getting a zip in in a Vanson I'm ordering.
In that case I would consider getting him a 613S instead if you can find one, although the regular 613/618 aren't bad of course. I mention this because the -S model is basically the 60s/70s fit so it'll look more like the jackets the punk rockers wore. Remember that, like the 618/613 (only a...
Brutal, lol.
Yes, the pattern that's used in the 613/618/618HH/141 is one of the best in the business.
Even though my personal favourite Perfecto is the 613S/SH, that one is basically a refinement of the 60s pattern. The pattern of your jacket is really honed towards maximum range of motion on...
An original maker A-2 from Five Star is a great value for sure. I'd look on VLJ to see which contracts Five Star has reproduced from originals and go for those. To my recollection, Rough Wear, Doniger, and a few others are originals based. I'd check VLJ.
It's civilian jackets where there are...
I think you misread. The HH was a $200 upcharge, then shipping/insurance/Japanese duties were the additional $1100.
Personally if I get a Langlitz I think I'd go goat.
The photos are definitely the Hillside jacket. In an Instagram video Legendary posted recently with a walkthrough of the store, you can see the Hillside D-pocket right past the front door.
They did tell someone explicitly that it's "not Hillside", but IIRC Hillside despite having their retail...
Yep. I know that sounds like a tiny thing to notice but I looked back and the Schott model seemed to always be designated with a single H. The double H means they didn't just copy-paste the old listing, either; it means they deliberately put in a new Schott-style model number.
Policies are all in flux now. They were initially refusing to refund someone’s preorder a few days ago until he brought up the fact that it was potentially a legal issue.
I agree that they messed up; my point is I don't think it's the measurements. It's something else.
With that amazing Star Glove, though, I'm not sure why you ordered another CHP! Nothing will be as good as that.
