The only thing i have found that works for stinky leather jackets is airing and time.
I have bought old jackets that stank, washed them, still stank, tried the old stick it in a bag with baking soda, coffee, dryer sheets, noting worked.
I just leave them to hang outside underneath my porch...
Let's say you have a 40" chest exactly.
You can't wear a jacket that is 40" circumference as that would literally be skin tight.
Chest ease is added to account for that, usually between 4 and 6" on top of the true chest measurement.
So a size 40 jacket should be between 44" circumference (4" of...
What is peeling off isn't dye, it's a pigment finish.
Dye can't peel, it's literally the leather changing colour, only mechanical abrasion will get rid of colour by removing the dyed layer of leather.
Thanks, just double checking it wasn't a typo. You are right that 23" would be far too short for me, it would be a very nice leather crop top on me.
GLWS
That looks great.
The leather on that looks really matte compared to old Cal leather. Almost like a Schott naked cowhide vibe.
If you get an opportunity to take close up shots in natural light one day it would be great.
If you have an old Cal to take side by side shots even better!
I kinda agree with @Monitor, many people on the lounge have put jackets in the washing machine, and I have also read about people putting jackets in driers with tennis balls to break them in.
Admitedly he most likely used high heat in both washing or drying, but still this isn't a great sign...
I think i would get a worst reaction from my GF is she caught me in the bath wearing nothing but a leather jacket than if she caught me with somebody else!
There would be no end to the crap i would get... You are a brave man.
I didn't size up on my J-23, it's a size 42L.
According to Stuart i would also be a 42 in CHP and Leathertogs, he also says there is 2" circumference difference between sizes.
My 42 is 22.5 pit to pit. If you follow the 2" up logic, I woud guess that a 44 is 23.5", a 46 24.5" and a 48 25.5"...
Definitely not a J-100 though.
Looks similar to this vinyl J-04. (although clearly not vinyl)

Saying that i can't remember seeing a buco with a two piece back.
I had the same scare as you when i first started wearing my Schott 644, it was my first leather jacket and i was afraid a backpack was going to screw up my brand new jacket.
After a year, my Schott actually became my Gym jacket, meaning it was worn everyday as i took public transports going to...
Completely unrelated, but is the use of the term "petite" common with a masculine subject in the US? Or is it a typo?
In french a woman would be described as "petite", but a man would be "petit" with a mute T in the end.
Using "petite" for a man feels all kind of wrong...
Is this another case...
