    Show us your vintage home!

Atomic Glee, I love your new place. The lighting fixtures are terrific. I also love your black and white kitchen with the red and yellow you added. The art also adds a lot!

Ok...Here's my rant! Lady is sexist?

The thing about feminism is that it is supposed to give women/ladies/girls more options and empower them to make their own choices. That includes what they preferred to be called. One may like "lady" and another "woman." In college I had a sociology professor tell the class that "lady" was a...

Different decorating periods in one home...or room?

My kitchen is 1950's, my living room a mix of Victorian and vintage inspired new, my reading room contemporary but full of old books and vintage tea cups as decor, and my bedroom just a mix of vintage from many time periods. I want my home office to be deco, but right now it's filled with shaker...

    The Digital Age

I got out for a nice walk this evening. I passed the retired couple sitting outside their 1950's ranch on dime store multi-colored folding aluminum chairs. They always look happy and have neighborhood kids visiting. The cows at the farm down the road seemed to be enjoying their grazing and a few...

    Dean Martin - Forever Cool

Right now I'm listening to Rat Pack Live on XM 50's. "What's a Wopsicle?" "It's a pizza on a stick." So much of their banter would be forbidden today.

How to preserve and store vintage books / magazines?

Oh no, I wouldn't discard that either! But maybe keep it separated from your other books if you can smell the mold or mildew.

How to preserve and store vintage books / magazines?

I once asked an antiquarian bookseller this question. He told me that he discards moldy/mildewy books because the spores can actually contaminate the other books! If it isn't too bad, I place the book, mag, etc outside (on a dry sunny day) and air it out. Sometimes this helps. I have also...

    Post Your Short Stories

I like all of the little details in both of these stories that makes the shortness of them more expansive. It also gives depth to the characters.
