@jonbuilder
Thanks for sharing this news man. Big changes but sounds like a true new adventure and a new chapter in your lives!! Sounds exciting!!! You'll need to sell some of them CITY JACKETS and get yourself some YELLOWSTONE looking Ranch Wear!!!!!!!!! Post some Ranch pics when you get...
@tmitchell59 Put them kids to work on your Leather Jacket Cleaning and Conditioning Assembly Line!!!!!!!!!! What a special house to hang out in as a kid!!! Guitars and Leather Jackets as far as the eye can see!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds mellow Terry.
Old Hercules in Small size....... NOT an A-2-----Fairly beat up and needing some stitching on the waist band knits.
To me---what is interesting is the main zipper which is an odd Crown I have not seen before. Namely the pull..... Looks like a pull closer to the C&C zippers than the old...
JUSTICE was done in the end!!!
Yes Melrose is probably still one of the LA hot spots. I remember Buffalo Exchange and Aardvarks among many others up there. As a guy who was a ThriftStore addict, I was always very turned off by the higher end stores. I LOVED their stuff but shuddered at...
If it was one of OUR OWN you'd think it woulda hit the classifieds here before hitting eBay..... Perhaps the Seller thinks an auction will bring a higher price even with the sales fees.
@handymike and @Marc mndt
Hey Guys, thanks for posting on your experiences visiting the RRL Vintage stores. They are very much what I thought they would be but to be able to see the places in person and have you guys report back on their jackets brings it all to life. It just reminds me of...
Nice pick up. Seems to be an early Brent. This one has a unique Crossover label where it actually has WINDWARD and BRENT on the same label and the Windward Colors in the label as a whole. I don't know about the fit for you----but you very likely got a very cool true vintage jacket for a song...
Having mentioned it a few times here---THIS is the link for the Ralph Lauren Vintage Store online. Information is sketchy on these stores. Apparently, there are 12 Flagship stores and these stores carry vintage items. The confusion in finding this is all search queries with VINTAGE RALPH...
A lot of good reasoning here. We obviously are connecting dots based on scant historical information but I think you are right that we can sort of take as a given that RoughWear was the likely maker of the Admiral Byrd line of jackets after they made the original jackets for his expedition. I...
Oh Hot damn!!!! Ok..... I'm a little slow sometimes..... lol.... Looks sorta like a cross between a Vanson and a Vanek (out of Vienna)....... Cool one. Vanson pulls off the classy two piece back or center seam as good as anyone I have seen.
Nice work @tmitchell59 !!!!!!!!!!----NOW we are gettin somewhere!!!!!!! This is some definitive evidence!!!
And it all ties together date wise to the patent itself when you see the Application Date of March 21, 1934 and the eventual Granting of the Patent dated March 5, 1935 both of which are...
@tmitchell59 I am so glad to hear from you on this Terry. I have been trying to research this jacket and have rewatched all your Sears jacket and Herc videos (even the Oldies!!) in the last month or so even pausing them to gaze into the background at your jackets. I know that you had one of...
These are all good points you make. I don't have any other jackets with this era of liner type. But it is a good suggestion. I am going to be looking at some of the jackets in the Lounge over the years and pay attention to the liners and how they are sewn. Thanks for posting Terry's jacket...
Really cool jacket man. It seems at least Canadian to me---perhaps European.......That belt and zipper configuration should be indicative of if its American vs. Canadian/European.
I wondered the same initially regarding the YKK zipper but the base says YKK too so its a full replacement YKK. I am not even doing my normal quibbling about a YKK zipper on a vintage item. But I am a little surprised that Ralph Lauren Vintage Tailors couldn't do better with a period zipper...
Really good info via Dinerman on Albert Richard!! Thanks for posting this.
This is interesting that both Monarch and AR & Fried-Ostermann were in the Milwaukee, WI area. I would have guessed there might be a connection there between the companies because of their proxemics (like we see in...
Its Albert Richard Day I guess!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice one. Too warm for my area. Zipper fatality. Otherwise decent condition for the age. Cowhide. and a larger size too.
