Well, per period pictures and the display at the Texas Ranger Museum at San Antonio, here's a few common ones:
Smith and Wesson Heavy Duty
Colt New Service
Winchester 1907 & 1910
Winchester Model 95 (amazingly enough, there was even one on display in .270)
Colt SAA
Browning Auto-5 (not...
The saddest thing of all with the whole VA deal is that it could have been EASILY prevented with one modification of VA law and VT policy to allow possession of a given item on campus. I will say no more.
Agreed. On that note, I have a couple of nominees for the shotgun class:
Winchester Model 97 Trench Gun
Winchester Model 12 Riot Gun
I'd tote my .32-20 Smith and Wesson for the gangster ( 'et .32-20'll shewt rat thru a man) or my New Service for IJ type things...
The .32-20 revolver...
I have both live and studio versions of the Wheel doin' "Jumpin'..." in a couple permutations of the band... I likes me some Junior, too.... Seen him live TWICE. Spade Cooley is OK, too... Another add:
Robinella and the CC String Band
Maybe a bit of clarification is in order.... The links discuss more or less discuss concealed carry (which I will not comment on as political discussion is banned); my question probably should have been phrased,
"Which firearms best exemplify/typify The Golden Age?"
What firearms best work for The Golden Age? My Nominees:
Colt New Service
Colt Government Model (either .45 or .38 Super)
Smith and Wesson Military and Police
Smith and Wesson Model 1926 .44
Colt Police Positive
Remington Model 81
Remington Model 51
M1928 Thompson with vertical...
Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys
Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys
Ralph and Carter Stanley

Hank

Asleep at the Wheel (the early stuff with Lucky Oceans on pedal steel)
Any compilation or "Greatest Hits"...

Tie:1900-1926 and 1946-1950.
Why:
1) Even the guns had panache. Park a Smith and Wesson New Century (AKA Triple Lock) or Colt New Service revolver next to a Sig or Glock, or a Remington Model 81 rifle next to a M4 and you'll see what I'm talking about...
2) The cars had character. Park...
Cathode modulation just might be better for low power, but I for one am glad the people that have that website think cathode modulation sounds better than plate modulation. Cathode modulation (like old Drake Twins or any rig that has sweep tube finals) just doesn't have the full, rich sound of a...
You know a plate-modulated tube transmitter would be JUST the thing for this. Nothing quite has the tone of plate modulated A3E... I just don't know of any transmitter low powered enough to not require a license. Solid state transmitters sound, well, tinny.
Can't remember which forum it was, but several years ago I was registering on some form or another... Kewpt trying different permutations of things and every mother's son of them were taken.... Out of frustration, I tried "Plain Old Dave" and here I am.
I can wear my OR in my Crown Vic (1998 model) no problem... That said, TN State Troopers generally park their campaign hats in a 'rack' in the roof or in the passenger seat when driving...
