I'll be happy to wait for 2014 if: the felt is thinner than what Stetson is putting out now; not powder dyed; not too stiff; and has decent resiliency to weather.

If you've been wearing crushable wool felt hats, you really should make the upgrade to a good fur felt. An Akubra is a tough hat, which can be reblocked down the line to give it new life. As long as the felt holds up, the other parts of the hat (ribbon/band, sweatband) can be replaced...
If you can't find a deal on a lightly used one, I know there was a size 7 Panama Open Road floating around on eBay a few weeks ago, and Meyer the Hatter still shows them on their webpage.
