Could be the real deal......and anything framed will be expensive.....if for nothing else, just the framing. Is there any identification on the back of the frame?

I see the origionals around, BUT, there are many reproductions offered, even in differant sizes (you select the size you want)......so hard to say. I will say with the new ones in the mix....I would much rather look at one in person.....MUCH easier to determine that way!

So true......but nationally sold pre-creased hats (to which my post was reffering to) they run close to the timelines indicated in the catalogs.

I ran across this interesting article from a 1957 "Hat Life" magazine talking about the price of fur and the threat of rabbit extermination back in 1955.......(ironically about the time of the lower crown short brim introduction). Could cutting costs have been the drive for these "new" styles...
Whew.........I was VERY close on this one......but the looks from the Wife have led me to step it back a little.........I have been saved more explanations as to why I needed this hat!
