Thanks Dd. The three vintage woven straws I have, one Panama and two Hopoka, all have some variation of this color pug. Must have been a popular pairing.

A great look Dd. The crown seems too tall to look Amish. Some of the edgier Mennonites might wear one that tall, but with a teardrop crease. Or so my memory tells me.

Thanks Scotty. I'm wondering how old it is. Searching on Melvin brought me nothing. And I'm don't know when $5 was the going rate for a mid-range panama. They had a bunch of stingy milans from the same seller, but, sadly, they were all too small for me.
Thanks,
Michael

Didn't notice the kink in it until I took the photos. Steaming ties while wearing them is inadvisable practice. Ha ha.

Thanks Bob. I like that new woolie too. Today I'm trying the hand printed silk model, but I'm not sure I like the look with this outfit.

I may try switching to a Bleeding Madras...
Thanks Richard. I was very happy to find the Panama yesterday. I like this color in a straw.
The spectators are some old Freemans with a mix of, I believe, nylon mesh and leather. How old I can't really guess.
The Bantam you got from Harv is a dandy. Great looking hat.
Thanks,
Michael
Supposed to be 80 here today too, though with a chance of thunder. For now the new Melvin panama was calling me.

Thanks Matt. I see you are up to two hats now with the nice Lee this afternoon. I'm up to two as well, plus a cap.

I found three other ones too. Nothing very vintage or very special, but I guess something attracted me to them.

I like that one. You might be able to find a last possible date made by searching on Botany Mills. I believe they were in New Jersey, but I could be recalling that wrong.
I like that one too. How many are you up to now of the 500 tartans? I don't seem to find too many around here. I did...
Here is a link to dating Florsheims. They used a repeating date code so you have to use other means to decide the decade. KB would be 1961,71,81,91 and 2001.

I've been lucky in finding them in different colors. I think I only have one or two silverbelly.
I think that Resistol felt and wide ribbon look great in the sunshine photo. Looks good with the center dent too.
Thanks,
Michael

Nice looking back bow Red. Wear them while you can. Sounds like it will be straw weather here starting tomorrow.
I don't think they are that common here either. My feeling is that it was a bit of a fad in the early '60s.
Thanks Red. I don't think I have an interior photo handy, but it just...

Thanks Stefan. Have to like sunshine at this time of year. Though tomorrow is supposed to hit 80 and I have a feeling I'll be seeking shade.
Thanks Stefan. It's a bit unruly in the brim, but a fun hat to wear.
Both nice hats, but the Atlantis is superb. You wear it well.
Thanks,
Michael
