It just shows you have taste. I would never drive a car smaller than my current car's engine bay. I can do whatever I want, dammit! This is a free country and I'm free to buy/not buy anything I don't want to buy for any damn reason I want to. I'm just not going to buy, at any time...

That, too, but I meant the vinyl tops.

    Is chivalry dead?

I think it carries a stigma, here. Some folks hear the word madam and think of a woman running a house of ill repute.

Compacts, in general, are a joke. My car was built in Arlington, Texas, your argument is invalid.

Well, a deer is better built than an import.

How'd the Panther look afterward, I wonder.

Eventually, I'll have to put her into retirement, or at least reduced use. She already has 165,000 miles on her. I think you don't give the vinyl top enough credit. I see plenty with the carriage roof, and a few slick tops. They may be able to sucker some of the public, but not me. I'd be...

Yup, the American public gave up style and quality for 4-cylinder commieboxes, all in the name of fuel-economy.

Pretty sure that my Brougham craps cars like that.

I think it's a good option. You could order them without, but clearly more people preferred them on the car. I'm dreading the day I have to shoehorn myself into a DeVille, after the Fleetwood's retirement. A new Brougham would make me happy, but Cadillac's 'Art and Science' spiel they're...

I've always thought that using Ma'am was a safe term, being respectful and polite. I reserve miss (always followed by their first name) for whatever gal I'm dating and a few close female friends. I've called my friend Sara 'Miss Sara' for many years, now.

They were great for the winter! I think the tops should have been done differently, but they were the last to come with a factory vinyl top. The '96 Fleetwood Brougham was sort of the end of an era in a lot of ways. It was the end of GM's body-on-frame, RWD, V8 sedan. It was the end of...

We put a new choke cable in the Dart today, painted the wheels, and took the silly decals off. Also adjusted out the carb and adjusted the electric choke on the Roadrunner.

I wouldn't call having an unwavering pride in my own nation's products irrational. The only fear of them I have is dying in one because of their terrible build quality.

So far, I've had two vinyl-topped models. My current daily car: I really liked the one on my old '79 Electra, too:

I never associate vinyl tops with hippies, except perhaps MoPar's 'mod tops.' On a car such as a Cadillac or other Broughamy car, I associate them with stodgy, old-fashioned, formal individuals such as myself lol

What Did You Drink Last Night?

It is from the land of sky blue waters, you know. Also, PBR is big with the 'redneck' crowd around here.

Just like in the good old days. Bud is swill. I had Hamm's and Schlitz last night.
