To answer your question, Wikipedia's "Hat" entry states:
Traditional hat size is worked out by adding the fore and aft and side to side measurements (in inches) then dividing by two. In the UK, an equivalent hat size is an eighth of an inch smaller than in the US.
Very nice. I've handled two Borso featherweights (both a punti 4, ugh) and was amazed at how light they were.
Here's my only lightweight hat, from the Stetson-Air-Light thread.
"Sovereign" is tricky, as is "Imperial". I think that both have been models and quality designations.
Neo, just for a quick run down, here's the basic order for Stetson quality in dress hats. The distinctions are dependent upon the hats being from the same era. Later hat of a given...
It's the other way around. I don't recall if the St. Regis is generally a Royal or a Royal Deluxe but, in either case, Sovereign is a higher quality felt.
For how to cut or style your hair, check out General Attire. There's a Start Here thread at the top of the page that will help guide you to the right place. If you're asking about something hair length and hats or pomade affecting hats, this is the place.

+1 and +1
I've got to spend more time looking at these later, but this little gem alone made me happy.

There's also the Ask a Question thread. There's almost nothing that you can think to ask about hats that hasn't been either specifically covered, or nearly hit upon in an...
Thanks for the positive comments.
VM, the Lofgren cap is better than any vintage cap I've handled - though my experience with caps is somewhat limited. The width and quality of the sweat is what really sets it apart. Again, if you're ever looking to get rid of a few more, I'm in.
