There's a bigger problem that not dressing for formal occasions, failing to remove a hat in a Church/restaurant/etc, and leaving Church or other...

The Highway Patrolman (AKA Model 28) was a .357 Magnum (AKA Model 27) that wasn't polished as well. They postdate the Golden Era, being introduced in the mid 1950s. I have had 2 of them, and regret selling the first one.
Random thoughts....
1) Being an E4 in the US Navy (Reserve Component), my pet peeve is so many of our uniforms require dry cleaning. Dress Whites should be canvas instead of polyester, and "WestPac creases" (sewn in) should be in all working dress uniforms. IMHO the "urban camo" (sic)...
I think a VERY good point is made in that we tend to romanticize eras we didn't live through. One military funeral was hard enough. We (I think) tend to overlook that a lot of our parents/grandparents/kinfolk lost a good number of friends and relatives in The Golden Age. Looking at a fedora and...
