I almost didn't want to tell you about this one, but last night HBO aired the documentary 'Inside Deep Throat.' It didn't really dwell on the making of the film itself, but about its impact on American culture in the 1970s. It was the 'in' thing to go see it. It was cool for Hollywood stars to...
Early this morning was Sam Peckinpah's 'Straw Dogs' (1971) with Dustin Hoffman. Since I'd never seen it or read about it I was thinking it was going to be a western....[huh] . It gets pretty violent at the end (in slow motion).
I had some sort of 007 movie camera that when you pulled the camera trigger a gold bullet would come out the lens. I remember having an 'attache' case that contained a play sniper rifle that you'd put together just like a REAL one...even had a silencer!
The James Brown concert was filmed in a historic theater in my town. When the movie was shown it was sort of wierd sitting there and watching it from point of where the camera filmed it from.
What I learned from the History Channel: The ancient Romans used toothpaste formulations based on human urine. Since urine contains
ammonia, it was probably effective in whitening teeth. Do you think such a product would sell today?:D
I watched 'Stay' (2005) with Ewan Mcgregor. I'm going to have to watch it again to figure out what the heck was going on. Although he looks good wearing it, McGregor's wardrobe was all Thom Browne....not exactly my taste.
During a press day for an air show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, some years back I got strapped to the top wing of a Stearman biplane and flew around. The pilot wouldn't let me take my camera with me, though. My dad was there, too, and he told me afterwards not to tell my mom what I just did.lol
I...
Last evening I watched 'Far From Heaven,' a 2002 film starring Julianne Moore and Dennis Quaid. Set in 1957, they are a picture-perfect Father Knows Best-type family with some dark secrets (the husband is really gay and the wife has become a close friend of a black man...very 1950s taboo)...
I'm a bit off center in the self-portrait wearing my latest thrift store purchase...a fifty year-old black wool suit. Those are just reading glasses I'm wearing to make myself look like a serious New York business man (the complete opposite of what I'm really like).;)

I found this mid to late 50s black wool suit last week at a local thrift store. It is in mint condition. The pants need shortened a bit so that's why I'm not showing myself head to toe. The lapel is about three inches at its widest and the center vent is about seven inches. The necktie is the...
Digging around for some autumn ties I didn't realize how many mid-50s ones I had. They probably came out in 1953 and the style lasted for around five years or so until the ties really narrowed down.
