A column shifter would completely throw me off! I routinely use 4th gear when driving on the freeway, so stopping at 3rd would take getting used to aswell lol Thanks for answering!- C-dot

I have a question about manual transmissions in Golden Era cars. I drive a modern 5 speed, but I've noticed that 1950's era manuals are mostly 3 speeds. Does anyone drive one of these? Is there a distinct difference? ETA: I'm no expert on transmissions, but I imagine it would be more...- C-dot

Is that 40's? Looks early 50's to me... You'd need a layered cut for that style. Wet set the entire thing in 1 inch sponge rollers, vertically. The next morning, you'll look like Shirley Temple. Take a brush and brush it all down as flat as you can, and you'll see the ends start to flip... -

(Sorry to keep chiming in!) If you bend the hair at all during the curing period, it will kink. Ditto for rolling the hair - I don't imagine it will come out pretty. One girl came running back to our salon in tears because she put her hair in a loose ponytail-type job, hoping it would go... -

Thanks girls! :) They do look much, much better without the strap. I wanted to remove the entire strap, including the extension to the soles, but when I lifted one back, I discovered a really large seam. Bit miffed about that, but still an improvement:- C-dot
