Red lipstick has always been considered a classic look, and as such, has never really left fashion. It goes in and out in mainstream trends - Usually around Christmas, reds become more "in," and magazines are filled with tips about how to find your correct shade. These trends are usually...
I've never been to a beach wedding, but I understand they are casual. I would think a large sunhat or flowers in your hair with a long cover tied at the waist and espadrilles would look smashing! Think Edie Beale :)
Beautiful!! :D
It wouldn't be impossible, but with all the layering, you wouldn't get a very good braid. For a Middy to work, the layers in front do need to be shorter, so if they were kept longer then you would have a different cut altogether. You would likely also find, like crwitt says...
Besides many people being hesitant to give, for whatever reason, I think many more people are too proud to ask... Maybe even afraid. There's a real "It's not my problem" mentality these days which I'm not sure was too prevalent in the Depression.
I don't really have the means to help others...
That's quite the dilemma. I would never push anyone to try the tutorial who isn't willing to overcome the initial discomfort of cutting their own hair, and by extension, who is rattled by the possibility of error.
Work on your communication with stylists. Most modern hairdressers don't quite...
Hats could work, but I suspect the SPF in your sunscreen isn't high enough. Anything under 30 and you will still soak in some rays - 50 and over and the sun won't touch you.
Not to mention the money! The ironic thing, and the common misconception about vintage hair, is that it takes more time than modern hair. Not so.
I am not a mum either, so I can pretty well make my own time for sets, but I'm sure some time could be carved out like kamikat does!
I searched and couldn't find it  One of the Bartenders will probably be able to.
In the meantime, I was reminded of some pictures exquisitebones (of The Mysterious Life of the Metropolitan Housewife) posted some time ago in the "Show us your hairdo's" thread. You can see them here...
Lauren Bacall wears them in Key Largo. :) Good find on the name Gracie Lee, they looked a little low-heeled for espadrilles.
I Googled for "Giant Killer Sundae" and didn't find much, except this blurb under a hybrid image of a Chicago neighbourhood:
"Now a Starbucks, this former site of...
I adored Mister Rogers as a child, and like Rue, I was also truly upset when he passed away. In high school, whenever I stayed home sick I would curl up on the couch and watch the PBS re-runs. I never outgrew him :)
Looking back, I know the reason was because he was gentle and kind without...
I've read that... Never tried it, though. I have tried Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk, and while it's nothing against the product, I found it encouraged my acne. I have unfailingly oily skin in all seasons that I attack with Proactiv and lots of astringent to keep clear. I also...
Don't mention it ;) I've made a study of vintage hair and make-up! I feel a bit like I did in elementary school on here sometimes... "Laura, you don't always have to raise your hand..."
The cartoons are sweet. The first cut is a lot shorter than the second one, and looks like it has more...
OT: Aww, you're a sweetie :) Don't feel stupid, they're getting more convincing all the time. Back in '09 they used to flat out post pictures of Nike sneakers, now they come with a story and plant generic 5 word posts in other threads to avert suspicion. Clever little UNIX hackers.
I am becoming your fairy post-mother lol
From your description of your face, you sound exactly like Loretta Young! Long, thin face; large (gorgeous) eyes; delicate jawline:
Here she is with even shorter hair:
The trick is to go for styles in a shape that suits your features...
