Is that what that stuff is called? It definitely works well at eliminating smells. My mechanic used something like that to get rid of a very strong dead mouse smell in my car and it was gone in a couple days.
Good advice and I'm glad you quit. Not only should you live longer, but think of all the money you'll save. Seriously, do the math... you can afford more jackets!!!
With the spread of legalization will come more medical research and then we will have reason to regret legalization and de facto...
Were those pilots wearing their old jackets in aircraft, or just while schlepping around base? As Deacon has said, the nomex would likely have been mandatory for pilots and aircrew while flying, but pilots probably still wore their old MA-1 jackets at other times, probably as a subtle reminder...
^ That's exactly what it is. Non-aircrew wore them, although some aircrew did too as being warmer than an A2. You can get a good repro from At The Front.
I was interested in this stuff back in the 90s and used to collect catalogues from various country retailers. These types have jackets have always been around conservative country types, and I believe they started as the uniforms for keepers etc made up in the estate tweed. At some point...
YES, this, a most excellent post. Looking at Schott's measurements I shake my head, I'm not fit but heck, I have a bigger drop than 2". Most men's suits are 6" drop, and I'm a 4" drop. Who is Schott making for? Men with generous midsections I can only guess, or maybe men who wear motorcycle...
Nice looking jacket. Although there's a certain amount of snob appeal in insisting on wearing only wool or cotton, or leather coats in classic cuts, but in reality modern fibres and insulating liners often perform much better in a range of weather. Wear it well, friend.
^ Burberry looks like it might have been made for a specific retailer, i.e. the "VL" on the tag. They've made coats from blended cotton since at least the 1990s and probably the 80s. To be honest blends work better in my experience.
I haven't seen a moderator on this forum for ages, but on the off chance someone is around, could they please add this question to the big nomex thread we already have? Here's the link: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/nomex-flyer-jacket.75006/page-10#post-2183920.
Alpha has not been the...
^ I know what you mean, but I'm 100% that the one sleeve is too short. Although the jacket is not hanging "square" on the hanger, it is hanging straight-on to the camera, so there's no perspective distortion; and because both sleeves are hanging straight down from the centre of the shoulder...
You're correct, old knits were grey in colour, not matching green.
However, what's wrong with the knits? The knits in the photo look fine other than that small hole. Unless they're really chewed up bad -- which there is no evidence of in the photo -- don't change them.
Alpha's jackets have not been intended to be authentic for a long time. Which is fine with me, since their current jackets are very well made, and much better made than the stuff they were making in the USA a decade+ or so ago, even though those have more authentic proportions, etc.
Never apologize for reviving an old thread, rather than starting a new thread on the same topic which would cover the same discussion points and be redundant. You've done the right thing!
