Tom Neil - fellow pilot to Albert Lewis in 249 Sqd - writes several times about Lewis in his new book Gun Button to Fire.
Here are some "new" pictures of Lewis from the book.

Just ordered a couple of poppy pins from British Legion, and while doing it, I wonderend why we do not have the same thing here in Denmark.
Allthough Denmark did not participate in WWI - lots of danes from the south of jutland (at that time part of Germany) were drafted into the german army...
I have mixed feelings regarding the memorial too.
You know what they say: "A camel is a horse designed by a committee."
I think the scrambling pilots are awesom - and the artist should have let it be right there!
But then he should also bring in the plotters, the WAAFs, the factoryworkers...

Just stumbled over these two - very strong and very touching pictures. Taken at the presentation of The battle of Britain Monument in London - couple of years ago. Two veterans sees themselves. Or is it their long gone brothers in arms? Who knows what goes through these two fine gentlemens minds?
I am totally with you on that one.
A watch is more than just telling time. Maybe it's a historic peace - or has a personal history attached to it. (Pulp fiction!!! - and when my son got my old Rolex when he graduated. A watch he always rembered on my arm - ever since his childhood.)
Or maybe...
Family at War was a great series. So I thought, when I bought it on DVd couple of years back. And I must say the story still holds, many of the actors are still good - some things would be done differently today. Not so much stage - more locations. A bit more action would be nice too - But...
We are not supposed to do this (or are we?) but there's a fantastic looking, original Irvin up on e-pay at the mo.
The price is $ 2.000 and rising!!!!!!!
