ETA: Heck, how are they intimidating if only a few are wearing them. Today, anyone wearing a fedora is probably too self-conscious to be intimidating.

It's hard to go wrong with a hatter and steam, and the shots with the ladies of the shop are great, but this hat sells the store to me. The finish on that hat is amazing.

The hats on the deputies in The Grapes of Wrath are great. They're thinly bound brim (OR style) westerns, but styled in many ways. I liked that they appeared to have a higher contrast - maybe silver ribbon against a darker gray felt. There are also many other types of hats, styled in many ways.

From the Churchill thread, it seems that the highest end Churchills were primarily (only?) sold at NM. Maybe this was Byer-Rolnick putting the high end of the country folk Resistol line in the hands of city folk. The box does seem to resemble the Resistol box posted in the ebay thread yesterday.

Thanks, guys. Aureliano, even though I love the one I bought new, the wider brim and higher crown on this one really work for me. The brim was a little too flat in front, but it shaped so easily with damp hands. A little more, and I think I'll have it where I want it.
