Following my rather hasty decision to put an old plus fours suit up for sale in classifieds, I was genuinely overwhelmed to see the response it got.
I wear a big baggy pair of plus fours on my vintage racing bikes, and I love the look to bits. But I've never met anyone else who understands...
Is there any way I can change the title to read NO LONGER FOR SALE, I feel really bad for getting folks hopes up when they see the thread.
Sorry Ghos7a55assin, going back in the wardrobe while I rethink what to do with it.
I've dug out some cycling pics of me in plus fours, I'll scan them in tonight and post them up. Maybe in General Attire. I'd also like to see if anyone else on here wears them! My problem is while I like vintage gear, I'm quite shy and don't like being stared at like a freak. I can get away...
OK, I've decided to keep it....
for now! I hadn't realised how rare these suits were, and looking at photos of me wearing the suit, it ain't as bad on me as I thought...
Also, while it's not worth anywhere near $2000, £80 was probably giving it away judging by some responses lol
I'm...
Going by your responses I'm now in two minds about letting it go :eusa_doh:
I do love it, even though it's a tad short, but where the hell am I going to where it??
I'd thought I'd made my mind up too let this one go, now on hold while I sleep on it, sorry fellas :( Not something I...
Blue grey herringbone tweed suit, 3 button single breasted jacket and plus fours. I'm guessing 1930's but it could be later.
No size label. I can wear it, but I think I'm an inch or two too tall. See the photos just taken and see what you think. I'm a 36" chest, 32" waist, 5'9" tall...
Snap!
My first car was a '69 Beetle! I had it for 10 years and it broke my heart when I let it go  Took me everywhere I wanted to go, for over 100,000 miles, I loved every minute I was behind the wheel!
Now I'm all grown up with kids got a proper family car, a 1959 Kombi soon...
Like BT says, they turn up here in Army Surplus stores occasionally. I got one from Sabre Sales down the road in Pompey. From my experience they are usually very surplus! I don't know how the Royal Navy washes them but the sleeves are really short. Well they are on me and I'm only 5'8". Also...
Thanks WR!
Why thank you Sir ;)
Strange, I bought another Miller a couple of years afterwards, only difference it was in brown, but it just wont sit right at all. They look identical in shape, but the liner is a really cheap looking in the later one, and the sides drape around the the...
my ideal cap...
And after some google surfing, under stuff like empire state construction workers, lewis hines, etc...
And here are a few pics of my Millar I bought about 5 years ago, and worn every winter since.
It's nearly there, but not quite.... I...
Sorry, forgot to scrounge some fags :eusa_doh: Here's the match dispenser in action anyway ;)
Maybe it's some sort of self build? A model kit maybe?? Or maybe an apprentice piece? Or a one off presented to someone on their retirement? Too much work is involved for it to be mass...
Got Google Earth? Type in 'the itchen bridge so19'. I go over the Itchen Bridge every day on my way to work. (I live in Itchen, it's the parish next to Woolston, and only a short walk away.) That rectangular plot of the land right on the river edge that the bridge goes through the middle of...
I either call them bikes or pushbikes, but when you say pushbike there is no confusion with motorbikes! My wifes 'bike' is a 1939 BSA M20 500cc, my 'bike' is a 1946 Hobbs of Barbican Raceweight ;)
I'd say 'pushbike' is still in fairly common usage here in the UK, I'd not really thought about...
Picked this curiosity up a while ago at our local car boot.
I liked it as soon as I saw it, but left it there as I was on my pushbike at the time and it was too large and heavy. I described it to my other half when I got home and she made me go back in the car and get it! It now...
