Things You Learn as an Old Car Driver

In Wisconsin, whoever has the biggest truck usually gets to go first..... You know you're an old-schooler in the car world if you prefer a manual choke to an electric one. You also learn that no two cars start exactly the same. Some need full choke, or half choke, then 3 pumps of the gas...

    What's for Dinner?

Grew up eating that stuff! The herring isn't all too different, though. My Grandpa used to take us down to Port Washington and we'd buy in bulk. Ha! I'm lucky enough to not have a sense of smell, but I hear they're not very nice to sniff! I have one left, but saving it, as we had smelt...

Thank you! I had no idea that customizers used them. I looked it over while I was at the shop today and there was a tag on the firewall that said Olds 78, so I'm assuming it's the 'Dynamic 78' or whatever they called it in '47. I'll have to measure the wheelbase one day to be sure.

Thank you, it's a 1947 Oldsmobile. It is a hydramatic with the straight 8. Runs and drives. I'll be happy to sell you this one, once I get it done! :p I'm not sure if it's a 98 or a 78. I can't find any identifying markings on it, but from research online, I'm leaning toward it being a...

I didn't know a whole lot about it. The inline six and three-on-the-tree went bye-bye for a 327 and a TH400. It was terrible to drive. Same with my dad's non-synchro 1952 Ford truck, which is soon to be getting something new, as well.

It has one rust hole on the entire thing that I could find. Far as I can tell, it needs a new battery, master cylinder, and gas tank. Other than that it's mechanically sound and does run. The interior is pretty good, too. I paid more than I would have liked to, but I think there's still...

I couldn't even tell you the name of the movie. We were flipping through the channels, saw an old filling station so we stopped.
