Now - the leather "jackets" I wear on my feet are a whole different story. I feel no reserve whatsoever doing hard, grimy work in these at all...and they have a lot of leather in them...
I have shoveled snow in heavier-leather jackets before. And I wear them into and out of work in a factory where 600+ people are welding day in and day out. However they are not being worn while I myself am welding.
I use Carhartt's and Duluth trading jackets and sweatshirts for actual work...
Octagon leather is special. I checked out one (very similar to this one in fact) several years back when Thurston's had their brick & mortar shop in Seattle. It was just broken in, and actually "softer" than I might have expected. It was similar weight as Competition leather. I think it was...
It's sure a nice jacket. I like this style quite a bit, but this one is not my size, and sadly, way out of my price league.
Good luck deciding what to do here...
Why not just ask - in person - your local cobbler what options exist?
In my experance folks prefer this - they know thier trade and thier options, and generally prefer being asked what a customer thinks, instead of being "told" what they are to do.
Good work wanting to support local...
Could also be the material of the shirt you have on? I have noted that polyester (microfiber) dressy shirts give a little more irritation with wool linings than cotton, however they are much easier to let a jacket lining ride in and out as the jacket is put on/taken off then a cotton shirt...
Regarding this^^^
JMax - I hope you get that great jacket out an wear it around a lot! Looks like it's never seen break-in, or much of the light of day either.
Gald it's with you now and out of the dark hidden away as it was.
Disregard - just wore these for a good walk, they fit exactly how White's are supposed to - quite snug. They need a full break-in which I am starting to do. Not For Sale anymore...
The only time I do not tuck in a shirt is while wearing a sweatshirt or sweater, for obvious reasons. I just don't like to wear shirts un-tucked. So I have not observed this circumstance with any of mine. However I have found cotton drill to be a bit easier for donning overall.
Is it the...
It would be very nice - these are really thick leather - doubled up on the toe area. Very hard to get any "stretch".
But I must like them - I am still wearing them as I type.
That would be "Toe" not "Tow" cannot seem to edit the title...
Up for sale is a great pair of White's Smoke Jumper's in the 10" tall size, with Vibram lug sole. These are in excellent condition, they appear to never have been used for work. Uppers have black shoe polish on them from the first...
Excellent condition White's 6" tall, Brown CXL Horween leather 350V Boots with Compostion Vibram sole. These have cap toes on them (an extra layer of leather over the toe area) however they are soft toe boots. Quite dressy and comfortable, they are just a bit too short for me. Medium arch...
Looks great! I too am pretty new to the Vicenza club, only took me around 1.5 years to be able to spell/type the name.
Your fits as well as any PHWM every could, in my experance. Nicely done!
Glad to see you back too sir! :) Yes I 100% agree, it still had a bit to go before 100% broken in.
Awesome to see that Two-tone D-pocket again too, thanks for sharing it in it's current, beautiful state.
