Me and some good mates love 'green laning' in our old buses.
Pretty much stock, engines are little (30hp) but ground clearance is high. Being 2WD we know our limitations but it's always a surprise what these tough old vehicles can do.
And some 'back in the day' photos...
Now on ebay...

Throwing caution to the wind and in true ebay spirit the start price is a mere £10....
Please excuse me for being a latecomer to this thread...
Just wanted to say, for the first time since Tom Baker/Peter Davidson (That will age me, if my username hasn't already) I am a Dr Who addict again. Loved the whole series, great fun!
Best bit is my two nippers (7 and 9) enjoy it even...
Straight Eight, I was tempted by several Eazi-Awns, they looked perfect for our old Kombi. In fact the weekend before I got the Air-Camping I had bid on an old canvas one that needed some TLC, but I was the underbidder, with what I thought was a generous bid.
Zaxxon, yours looks very similar...
Mav, I think they are more popular on vans than I first thought. I'm used to seeing them on Land Rovers, not VW's, but a few are coming out of the woodwork now.
This is an issue for sure. Fuel is so expensive now, and I really don't know how much longer I can afford to drive the old thing :( (I guess the bigger picture is good for Mother Earth)
I always keep a note of how much fuel I put in and the mileage at each fuel stop, (out of necessity, our...
After several years of searching I finally picked one of these up recently, a vintage 'Roof Top tent'. And they don't get much more vintage than the Italian 'Air-Camping' model. Introduced in the late '50's it was the first of it's kind, I guess the original 'roof tent'.
A pdf. file of their...
My father bought these but they are a little too big for him. They are beautiful! Alas I'm an 8 wide so no good for me either :eusa_doh:
These are second hand but well looked after. Slight wear on the soles, and a couple of scratches on the leather. They came with a set of plastic trees to...
I thought the wool uniforms were very badly fitting as well, surely they couldn't have been designed like that? They look like sacks of spuds tied in the middle...
Anyway did some digging to satisfy my curiosity and found a couple of images here that show exactly that! Long sleeves, collars to...
Split screen motoring AND a cup of tea, now you're talking ;)

Hiking in post-war Britain
I visited my great uncle Walter at the weekend and managed to borrow his family photo album. I had already copied and documented his wartime experiences in 2004 but stopped at the end of his military service in 1946.
These photos are of his time in the Erdington...
Yep, we are both on the same thread, but where your chain of thought went down the workwear route, mine went down sportswear, specifically cycling, and pretty much drew a blank lol I'm looking forward to seeing what else turns up though ;)
