That's quite a fortuitous privilege too. Save your hard earned cash, meet the man and get measured. You will have the best fitting jacket for sure. I'm sure he will enjoy meeting you and will be happy you pick his work against more established Scotland based makers.
Thanks man @El Marro. I agree the half sole definitely looks the part as more of a classic engineer boot look. I've only had full soles on my boots mostly for aesthetics as I mostly wear service boots/lace to toe boots. I'll keep looking at these engineers! When I get one though it will...
Once you get the jacket, how does shipping/tariff work? I really don't want to know but I have to know lol
Always liked this jacket. This looks great on you. What color way is it?
Thanks man @roadking04 . I totally get what you mean as I initially felt that way too when I first saw that jacket compared to when I put it on and looked at the mirror. The sheen treatment accentuates the grain and makes it more water repellent so I really like that touch.
The JL label with...
THanks @handymike. It really helps when we see a lot of great looking jackets here so there were plenty of inspirations to this build. All the credit goes eto JL making this jacket. It really looks like a do everything jacket with so I am super happy with the outcome.
Alright! the collar...
Funny you ask about the measurements. It's still not what you would expect in the waist for a guy my size but I don't know why this jacket fits better.
JL: shoulder 17.5", chest 19.75, waist 18.5", bottom sweep 18"
FL: shoulder 17", chest 19.5", waist 17.75", bottom sweep 18.5"
Maybe it's how...
They do offer something similar to this lining regularly but it has lots of red on it which I did not care for so much so they recommended this lining which I think blends better with the JL company logo. Thank you @Will Zach
Thanks @Psant25! I think going forward my jackets will be likened to...
My fave detail actually. I don't know how to shape it for the best look but I'll experiment on it, Thank you.
JL is there for your collar needs! Thanks man, it took a lot to get to this fit/look but I'm happy it finally came to me lol what collar did you end up going with your HwM order? I...
I'm sure as those lederhosen they make seem like to last forever and gets better as it ages. It's probably expensive to upkeep a tannery like that in a county like Germany too
Thanks man. I wasn't sure at first with the lining but it sure works well with this jacket. Thank you
Thank you...
Thank you, I appreciate it greatly. I think I finally figured out my preferred back length too
Thanks for your kind words. Definitely a keeper for sure. It's my best fitting jacket yet. I finally figured out my best measurements lol the collar definitely makes the jacket and the liner...
@Seb Lucas Thanks man. Not really as I just wanted a clean black jacket but now that you mention it I do see a little bit of it without the curved side panels.
@Monitor thanks man. I haven't seen/read Leathers tanned from Germany much here on the lounge too but the skin they used on this one...
Welcome to the lounge, you won't be disappointed and it will be worth the effort to save up to have something that you will enjoy forever and be able to pass along
Disclaimer: noob doing a review. I don't normally start threads but I want to highlight the work of Johnson Leathers of San Francisco
hey guys, I would like to share my new JL jacket (it's my 3rd with them). JL is local to me and I'm lucky to be within such a short distance from their shop...
That definitely fits you well but i get why you do not wear this as much because of all the other grail jackets you wear all the time.
Thanks for the take on the collar, I'll try to shape it like the ones we see on those older bates if possible at all
Thank you @El Marro. I think the collar makes this jacket as it just adds a little flare because how simple the pattern is. I was, wore the smile and the jacket around the city for a whole day too
Thanks @Psant25 i know right, the collar just looks right up at you in the face lol
Thank you...
