Just heard the sad news:
"Tich Palliser" - one of The Few from Battle of Britain has just died.
Tich flew with 249 Squadron and lived his last years in Australia.
We will always remember them.
There are lots and lots of bunkers at the westcoast of Jutland. Among them a huge - dug out - fortification at Hirtshals. Now a museum.
(Check it out on GoogleEarth)
Not exactly beautiful. I can easily understand those who want them cleared.
(These are not from France - but from Denmark)
The most intact of them should be saved and kept as museums/memorials of a time - but some of them are just in the way and ugly.
I fully agree, Paddy. Jon's jackets are something quite special and quite extraordinary. I have had the pleasure of trying one on and I must say - from my memory - it felt just like the real thing, I once tried on at Duxford. Same weight, same skin, same fleece and same softness. Amazing work!!!!
Fantastic jacket, Andrew - just like I like them! Pre-war, two panel! And what a great condition it is in. Not much tear on the fleece either. Is this a new one in your collection?
Ahemmmm...Rats Riley. With all due respect: "Flame & Citron" is about the danish resistance. Takes place in Denmark. Not France. But it's a great movie anyway!
