Pretty much what happened to me.
When i received my Himel i instantly knew it wasn't perfect, but i bought into the whole "it was made by a human" BS, i bought into the hype...
I had only handled about 10 leather jackets at that point, i now own around 50.
I had just spent 2300$ on a super fancy...
Just for the sake of consistancy and honesty i wanted to update this thread with these pics:
Here are a few pics ilustrating the issues i have with my Chevalier.
Let me start by saying i am aware this might look meaningless to some of you.
If you are happy with that level of stitching good for...
Honestly, it has been two years, i don't really care anymore.
Himel was the step that lead me to better makers like FW, RMC and LW.
I doubt that if i sent him an email saying "i was originally very happy with this jacket, but since then i learnt more things and i now realise it is pretty poorly...
Not yet, i am still working on fixing other parts of the house, because i do everything alone or with the help of a couple friends things are going at a slow pace.
I am now focusing on more important rooms (building a recording studio in the basement), but as soon as i get to my office and...
There is indeed a "repair" in that area.
It looks to me like they ran out of thread/broke the thread mid seam and started again leaving a few loose threads.
If you pull on it the center seam gaps a little bit but it hasn't gotten worst.
It's the main reason i don't wear that jacket, it looks...

If you are happy with that level of stitching good for you, i personally don't think this is appropriate when you know where Himel is trying to...
I love taht small removable triangle neck piece!
Super cool jacket, shame its too small.
Did you send the pics to Langlitz, what did they say about it?
I think it's a combination of two things.
My "everyday normal" is LW 4oz with a no10 Crown or Vanson CXL/Comp Weight with no10 Talon/Vanson zipper.
I think because of that to me the thin Shinki and small zipper just feel pretty fragile.
There is also the fact that the stitching looks pretty...
As i said, i have had more jackets since ordering my chevalier.
The chevalier was my 8th leather jacket, it was my first "high end" leather jacket.
I now have 50 leather jackets, i have seen a lot more jackets made by very high quality makers, my eye is better, i have a better understanding of...
Super, i most definitely do not have "bug up my a** for Himel", i am just pointing out that all makers should be judged under the same rules and standards.
If we call out a bad stitch on an Aero, a Schott, or any other brand we should also call it out on an expensive Himel.
The idea that a Himel...
It seems you are going back to the "humans are imperfect, as such, human made things should be imperfect" train of thought...
I personally don't understand this.
If you pay someone to paint your house, and every wall to ceiling cut is wobbly, is that good? Is your house now more charmful or did...
@Monitor, can you do a series of fit pics comparing your 4 or 5 perfectos at some point?
It would be cool to see all of them side by side, maybe do a full comparison thread.
IMO that is BS.
Something being artisanal means it should be better made that somethign made in a factory.
If the same person is making a jacket from start to finish i expect better quality than if something was made Schott style (basically a chain where each step is executed by a different...
You do know "DuBow" is just a name right now? nothing has been manufactured by the DuBow company in years, it doesn't exist anymore.
What you have are a bunch of different repro makers, without any connection to each other or to the real ww2 company using "DuBow" tags in their jackets.
Without...
