I read recently that castor oil was good for leather lounges, so I bought some and applied it to the stiff-as-a-board old jacket I got last week (see thread below), the effect has been dramatic, I'd always used neatsfoot oil for such work but I was also recently told by a saddler that it rots...
?
What a silly question! :)
I'm back down to one after moths got to my 3-piece blue pinstripe, but I'm out hunting a replacement. The other is a bottle green single breasted probably 50's. It goes well with my black 100% Cashmere Overcoat, but not with the Navy Aquascutum trenchcoat...which...
a different generation indeed
As someone who remembers the activism of the 60's and the early 70's compared to today's apparently unconcerned youth, I really admire those who actually went and fought in Spain. It's worth remembering that although most went to support the Republic, plenty of...
there are other viewpoints on the day
What does Krishna mean by the beginning of creation? According to the Puranas (Vedic histories), there have been innumerable creations in the course of cyclical time. The basic unit of Vedic cyclical time is the day of Brahma, which lasts 4.32 billion...
think about it
I have only one thing to say on this subject, so look away ladies as I point out that if some supernatural being designed humans in his own image, then why are the reproductive organs of the male hanging dangerously exposed OUTSIDE the body, where they can be damaged or removed...
true
Re animator was good as I recall, but I wonder if it's dated now..I watched Return of the Living Dead the other night, its clothes etc are really naff now but it still stands the test of time for my money...very funny, verging on classic.
the way home
I visited the US many years ago, and without rambling, the thing that struck me was the ignorance of people, and I mean that in the strict sense. Everyone I met was polite to a fault and very helpful, (except in the backwoods of Alabama I hitch-hiked thru) but many seemed to know...

Never!
That one is roughly a 42 and fits me well, and as I told the story in another thread, I found it stiff as a board and white with mould and restored it, adding WW2 Australian Army buttons, it's a bit fragile though as the tear you can see repaired on one pocket was done by me merely...
zippy
I'll try and get a close up of zips, but not 2 sure if camera is up 2 it, the brand on the first coat is 'Lightning', but I pay a lot of attention to buckles, they are very handy indicators, especially with later Brando style jackets, the best local label of which is HH Brent, but I've...
OK then
This one's been seen before: it's been relined
this old soldier has been on the road and worksites and whatever with me for 25 years, slept in it many times
This beast I found for 4 bux out in the country..VERY WARM
here's what I look for
and how about this while we're on...
Found this on Feebay for 25 bux, best condition coat of its vintage (late 40's?) I've ever seen, all the lining is good as new, which is rare, and it's a tight fit but still OK. I have three other Oregon brand coats, and this is a welcome addition
note the side buckle..pretty eh?
watch out
A friens of mine works in police records..a memo came down the other day that burnt CD's were no longer to be used to store ANY information, as they have begun to deteriorate after 2 years..back to paper, so those who have dumped all their LP's after burning them to CD on the home...
