Alright, here she is. Route 66. Teacore. Copper lining (rust, gold, reddish brown, hard to capture the color, but it's definitely not "gold" and not so orange as shown in the pics). Brass hardware. No hand warmer pockets. Moved the wrist zips to the underside.
Overall the fit is pretty...
well done, Tom. I got mine yesterday and want to wear a day or two before I post pics, but pretty much love it, but also had some similar second guessing as you're having. Nitty picky type stuff.
First off, good call on the zipper. As soon as I got it, I thought to myself "%#$* I should have...
Marc, most oil based conditioners will darken. Don't think you need any specific one if any specific brand is hard to come by. I was also going to mention that I like the jacket, but I think it's a shade or two too light.
You could use coconut oil, just make sure it's a good quality one so...
Before the internet, yes I am that old, most people didn't know much about anything unless you were a hard core hobbiest or that was your profession. I used to buy boots and shoes and would never condition them. I got a pair of Justin Cowboy boots I bought in 1995 and for the first time the...
Can't tell you how many times I've clicked on that link past few days. I got to put an end to it though. I almost bought one they had couple months back, but was too short and the taper from ptp to waist was off the charts like 23 to 18 or something like that. At 23.5, might work out better...
I got the steer on my G1-Amelia Earhart-MrProper mash up.
It's thick and soft, but really has no essence to it. The seal brown is a great color, it chips very easily with a tan brown underneath. Not sure that's going to translate to a two tone break in kind of thing with fine lines on stress...
This thing ain't bad at a $150-200 price point. Obviously an Aero Blackened Brown Vicenza would be better, but scratching this itch in the meantime and saving some bucks.
Had to give it a serious water treatment. Mostly because it smelled like a bottle of cologne, but it was like 15% too big...
niceee. I love the collar add on. Need to get one for mine. This jacket is really moving up in my rotation. Was probably my first "real" purchase about a year ago. Gave it the water treatment because it was a little big and ever since, it's completely transformed. Better fit, leather grain...
I think that you did the inspection should help your case. I've only bought one jacket and thought to myself for $5, it's worth it even though I'm assuming they just open the box, maybe check the label and then stuff it back inside.
The japanese listings like the ones you see on Ebay vary...
oh jeez. That really sucks. Did you do that insurance thing on Buyee where they supposedly check to make sure it's comparable to the listing? I'm curious if that has any value?
I've got one and they're awesome. Leather breaks in gorgeous especially after a little dunk. Not as flashy as a 118 (no footballs, no buttons on collar lapel, etc.) Great price too, better than half off new.
must have missed when you got this. It's excellent. California finally getting some real jacket weather past few days. I've been force wearing a lot of my stuff until now, but jeez, the layers are coming now (I know, real wimpy out here in Socal. Was 90 degrees 6 days ago LOL)
thank you!!! This jacket has me rethinking measurements because on paper it should not fit, it should be short, it should be tight in the shoulders, etc. etc. But if anything it is slightly big. I have the straps fully pulled in. I swear if I would have ordered a new one, it probably would...
Shout out to @Tom71 for this one. Package went on a journey, but it finally got here and it's a beauty. Can now check Thedi off my bucket list.
As always, the dog not impressed.
this brand doesn't get much love around here, but when I first got into leather jackets, I bought 2 or 3 of them. One I completely tortured, almost subconsciously trying to break it so I could justify buying something else, but it's still going. I thought I did good at about $200ish, so $50 is...
