Anybody know anything about these Japanese brands. There's multiple listings of same jacket (different sizes, colors, etc.). They sure look cool from the photos. Price isn't great, but not bad either assuming it's a quality product. Not sure what the actual brand is though.
1.4mm Black Core...
Here you go. A 52, but I'd ask for measurements because we know, those numbers don't mean much.

out of curiosity, what's your height and weight? I'm getting delusions of grandeur. Wondering if that Vicenza will be a little more forgiving than the CXL (of course it will but question is how much)
I poked around the site. Anything with brand name (i.e. people could reference and realize what they had) is priced about where everything else is on Ebay, etc. But these no label Cals are a steal.
the row of jackets hanging from up top are their "museum" pieces. They take them on road shows. I think I saw on their website that they had a couple for sale though. And I'm sure if you ping Gwen about what you're looking for, she might be able to flag one down for you if it ever comes...
thanks. Good to know about the zipper. Yeah, I'm coming around to this too. Been checking out all these photos from the 60s and stuff and how they wore them. I think we're obsessing too much lately, real first world problems :D:D:D. Been cycling through all my jackets past few days, and all...
She mentioned that in the Cal Leathers hey day (before she owned the shop), Cal also had an LA office, well office was putting it lightly. One of the owners was getting regular treatment in LA (about hour drive from Ventura), and basically set up shop in a relatives house that had an alley...
It looked like it's her and that one other person working in the shop. My jacket has about a 2.5 week lead time to work on. So I could see it not being an ideal situation unless you're local. When I go back in a few weeks, I'll dig deeper. I haven't handled newer Vanson, can only compare to...
yep. Super thick, rich leather. She said "I need to make sure if one of my customers spills at 70 mph all they're going to get is a scuff on the sleeve." Was really impressed. The 6 panel racers she had were out of this world. Almost bought on the spot LOL. And the G1, I forgot to take pic...
Originally was going tomorrow, but then was like, what the heck why not today.
I've been on a Cal Leathers wave lately, picking up 3 in the past couple months. Each has a slight variation (straight zip, cross zip, cross zip with gussets). The last one needed some TLC--male zipper pin fraying...
fantastic!!! I'm taking a drive to Cal shop tomorrow. They're about 45 minutes from me. Going to give the last one I bought a little TLC--fix the zipper, some loose stitching, and depending on price put in a new liner. The leather is too nice to let it just be a banged up jacket that gets no...
Now that I shifted gears to wearing instead of just buying :) starting to get some good break in on some of these. This Aero Sheene coming along great.
Got to see about maybe adding a button or a zip to the pocket warmers so they don't flare out as much. The little things I start to notice...
Cool. I'm in Woodland Hills/Calabasas area. Not much traffic nowadays so can travel :) maybe in the fall when jacket season returns after covid vaccines and all that hopefully turn this thing around.
thanks, everyone. Yeah, like I said, I'm totally happy. We're not statues after all where our bodies are frozen with a perfect frame. Movement is going to cause creases, so be it. My Aero Sheene started off very similar and has smoothed out a lot. I think the Aero influence on Greg is to be...
alright another bump, maybe my last. Might just keep this thing. Leather is too nice even though the jacket has seen some life -- beat up in the lining and some loose stitches here and there (I'll give more details if you're interested. Nothing compromising, but definitely need to be careful...
