When I was a kid in the 70's I would wear bell bottom denim jeans with running shoes. Bell bottom was boot cut on steroids. Fewer style selections in the 70's for kids. Good question. I intentionally added a margin of error. I like the very trim cut/look at the waist. This is the fit I like but it is not every ones cup of tea.
