The Holiday Party: Rude or Inept Guests?

Oh! YES! But I might put you to "work" to police, I mean establish policies of neatness and order! ;)

The Holiday Party: Rude or Inept Guests?

None of the people I invite into my home are really boors (well, the first party yes but I never invited them back). I would have never guessed their food/party manners in this kind of situation; they have a disconnect. C-dot's idea is wonderful and maybe I can do it next year.

The Holiday Party: Rude or Inept Guests?

C-dot, that's a great strategy! Sadly the aunt whom I know would be perfect for this task lives far away! But I will keep this in mind for next year!

    anyone wear grey hair?

I may try it after the new year. I have some gray strands that I want to color. I think I'll like my hair gray once I have more of them, but until then I'm not liking salt and pepper!

The Holiday Party: Rude or Inept Guests?

My living room has wall-to-wall carpeting meaning it's not removable. My house is always 70 degrees. "Wonderful throws" cost money I don't want to spend when I already invest a lot in what I have. I'm not worried about the table being ruined, but the tablecloth, yes (although now I only serve...

Thank you, Miss Golightly. What you say rings true for me. It makes me sad.

The Holiday Party: Rude or Inept Guests?

Every year for the past five years I have had a vintage Christmas party. Besides the fact that most of my house is vintage, I put out my finest vintage holiday plates, drinking glasses, tea set, napkins, etc. I used to serve an assortment of delicious Italian holiday cookies, flaky pastries and...

I recently have been reading in many different places online that offer methods for using coffee to color hair! Rathen than dying it, it "stains" hair. Anyone ever try it?? http://www.ehow.com/how_2343597_dye-hair-coffee.html

    anyone wear grey hair?

In my opinion aging well doesn't mean one can't look one's age. It's about looking good at any age....no? I think gray can be a part of that!

    anyone wear grey hair?

Here's something that no one ever really talks about, and it's a key reason why I have decided firmly to not color my hair. Hair dye is toxic and linked to certain cancers! Also, I just read this: A British mother who collapsed and stopped breathing minutes after applying a home hair dye kit...

Prescriptions for psychiatric problems on the rise

Yes and saw the movie. It was required reading when I was in middle school and it had a profound impact on me.

Prescriptions for psychiatric problems on the rise

Right! It's become not just acceptable, but desirable to be on medication. Also, insurance would once cover a visit to the "funny farm" which seemed like a retreat in the country for "nervous" executives. Now insurance will cover pills only, or one outpatient visit, in many cases.

Prescriptions for psychiatric problems on the rise

I'm sure you'll notice that many threads in the "Observation Bar" are full of discussions not specific to the Golden Era. Like "Should I own a dog." This one is relevant in my mind. Not sure why you chose this one to nit pick but I won't play.
