I used to have one of those Schott 4 in 1 A2's. Owned it for about 20 years. Solid well made jacket but all materials are one or two levels down on quality from the Aero's and Eastman's etc. My biggest gripe was the piling on the knits. I did like it very much then. After owning a couple of...
Aero jackets from my examples and on observation compared to other makers tend to use thicker thread and run about 7 stitches to the inch compared to finer thread at 8 or more stitches to the inch as seen in many other makers. This may appear as less refined or cruder but not so. Just a...
I would love to go there but it is on the other side of the world for me. A good forum to discuss Cinefest and old films in general is Nitrateville.

Just curious how long cigars keep for and still be acceptable to smoke? I found an unopened box of Don Diego Robustas that I stored away about 25 years ago and long forgotten. They were a gift. They were kept in a cool dark place and constant temperature.. They still look good and smell nice...
Charles Laughton is at his best in a little known precode film called DEVIL AND THE DEEP from 1932. Co -starring with future legends Gary Cooper, Cary Grant and also stage star Tallulah Bankhead. Laughton plays a jealous crazed submarine commander who plots revenge against junior officers Grant...
I have a suede Schott Rancher dating from the mid sixties like Dennis Hopper's jacket in EASY RIDER. Was a bit grimy when I bought it. It came up very nice after being dry cleaned. I have applied suede protector to it and use a brass wire brush to keep it looking good.
Sadly there are a few charity shops that have unscrupulous staff working for them. I am aware of a seemingly kindly old lady volunteer who kept the good stuff for herself and on sold it to dealers and auctions as well as for her personel ceramic collection.
One must remember Kangaroos are wild culled from different environments and several species. So there will be different ages and size of beasts. I imagine skins from a tough old male might be different from a dainty young female. I have noticed there seems variable uniformity in skins with hair...
The Repro Talon zips on my two Aero's are identical to the zipper on my original well worn mission used Dubow A2 from 1942 that still works perfectly. Dainty they are not.
I have two Aero jackets, an A2 real deal and a Grizzly. Both have the same vintage style talon zippers. I quite like the authentic approach. Getting used to these zippers is only a minor annoyance for a little while. Aero is mainly in the vintage reproduction business and glad to see they are...
There was a particulary notorious precode horror fim called ISLAND OF LOST SOULS starring Bela Lugosi and Charles Laughton. Frankenstein is relatively tame compared to it. This film had a lot of trouble with censors for depicting gory medical experiments on animals to make them into grotesque...
