Thanks Stefan. It was quite summery here today. I saw 87 feels like 97 at one point today. Thankfully it has cooled down a little now.
Fantastic hat. The felt looks gorgeous. And a great jacket, too. Great look all around.
Michael
Thanks Jeff. I was happy to find out that the Amish straw was up to a little bicycle riding. I have it on now in prep for a short ride in the heat. When I was searching for info on the Wide Country I ran across your classified for yours. Bummer it was too big. It is a very finely finished...
Also had to try out this inexpensive paper straw that i picked up yesterday for a buck.

I got it mostly to keep in mind the old ivory on white ribbon body combo. Which turns out to be much harder to photograph than to see with the eyes.

Have a good one...
Thanks Brent.
Thanks for the great info, Steve.
Thanks Stefan. I'll agree. it's probably my oldest panama, too.
Great looks. Super pug on the Huber's. Felt hat weather?? I thought you were supposed to be hitting Fahrenheit 451 there or something?
Thanks,
Michael
I'm going with my recent Amish style straw find.

It passed the downhill run on a bike test yesterday. Still might not trust it on a day with big crosswinds due to the 3 1/2" brim.

70 g is definitely a lightweight hat. I don't have much of a collection to compare the Stetson to. But I've always thought it was lightweight compared to some of the others I've handled. I think I've narrowed it down to having been made between 1906 and 1917.

Fantastic find, Dale. You've got me at anything with birds, flamingos are just icing.
Two great ones there, Yamahana. I'm a big fan of patterns like the one on the Pilgrim. And the bull rider is great.
Looks good. Sort of a play on the spider web patterns that were big back in the day...
Not new, but I'm really liking the look of these Cole Haan saddle oxfords today.

Bone and natural I think this would be.

I did a little work on getting the new Wide Country into a brim up mode that I liked. Not quite there yet, but good enough to relax in the yard for awhile this afternoon.

I generally favor a bound brim hat, but I think the mid ribbon and raw edge on mine is a really winning combo. And then I've got maybe a half dozen OR types and maybe only one other mid ribbon, so there is that too.
Thanks,
Michael
That's a nice looking stiff felt, Steve. Your post led me to wonder how much my early 1900 Stetson weighs. It's unlined and comes in at 119 grams.
Michael
Thanks Mark. It is a gem. Sadly the sweat is having some aging going on now.
That looks like a very nice OR type you scored there. On mine the brim is relatively stiff and has an audible snap when you snap it down or back up. At the same time it is very thin felt. The crown is as soft to...
Thanks. Some days the mood hits.
Very nice looking hat, Red. I was wondering how the shots were taking for you just this morning. Sorry to hear they were a no go. Hope the spine guys can get you properly straightened out.
Michael
Thanks Doug. Snippy or snappy? i was a bit snippy earlier when I found I had forgotten to roll the trash can to the curb last night for pickup this morning. But I found I had beat the truck this morning anyway, so I'm more on the snappy side now. Ha ha. The jacket is pretty amazing...
Thanks Scott. Not exactly the finds of the century, but they do make for a good month of hat hunting in the local environs. The Resistol is probably the most minty hat I've found in the last year here.
Thanks Dale. And good eye on the straw. Not only is the braid substantial, but they have...
