That example of the original late 1930s Monarch half belt I started with.
Then what was to become a goat hide Monarch half belt.
This jacket is sweet.
Cheers, Dave
Hi All,
Am looking for a bagged/basket case jacket to act as a donor jacket. Needed to facilitate an ongoing project. Pre 1960 preferred.
This proposed jacket must have 18" between sleeve holes & full back panel
To best illustrate that needed material see below.
I'm not asking for a hand...
Hi All,
This season, I've sold all of my original & restored jackets from my personal collection I had listed on EBay. I'm now down to the final two. Those two can be seen here http://www.headwindmfg.com/sale.html currently listed with HEADWINDS MFG . This week, I'm now offering them up at a...
Hi All,
For those USN jacket enthusiasts, I've listed a truly remarkable Large size jacket as seen here http://www.ebay.com/itm/USN-Large-Size-FOSTER-A-2-M-422A-55J14-G-1-LARGE-LEATHER-BOMBER-FLIGHT-JACKET-/401050753340?hash=item5d607cd93c:g:OPcAAOSwZG9Wi9rU .

Hi All,
Just received my next restoration project that I am very excited about. After a careful inspection I see no issues and found this jacket to most definitely be a prime candidate for a complete overhaul. It has seen better days but will soon be back in shape.
Sometime in the past this...
Hi All,
For the next week I'm going to be offering $100.00 off on my stated price for the 3 remaining M-422A jackets I've got currently listed.

Hi All,
Recently sold the majority of USN jacket I had listed on EBay. On the other hand, the pair of M-422A jackets I 've currently got with Headwind MFG Co. and in spite of being a much better value are still available.
Thanks, Dave

Hi All,
After viewing this thread I could not quite help but notice the similarities between California Sportswear's method of attaching their labels to both their military and civilian jackets. As seen in Dinerman's examples, sometimes they used a straight stitch.
Hi All,
Recently & in an attempt to make room for some recent purchases, I have decided to part with one of my jackets as it is simply to large for my frame and as a result rarely worn. It can be had for $650.00 to include S&H within the USA.
This fine jacket was featured in John Chapman's...
Hi All,
Bobby, I'm still patiently awaiting your posting of some Werber pix!
Recently, I restored my darker colored Werber and found another anomaly with regards to these same G-1 Werber jackets. These Webers were put together using OD thread! Nearly all the thread seen outside of these...
Hi,
I am specifically looking for a Medium to Large sized G-1. This particular jacket should have good working original small toothed aluminum Conmar zipper assembly. The overall condition of the jacket is not that important......
Thanks!
Yes, I appreciate it! As seen http://www.fliegerbasis.de/index.html, http://www.mash-japan.co.jp/oversea/cgi-bin/prd-eng.cgi?itemno=95-03-5010&ck=0 it looks to me that these two websites are sharing the sames wares. Even though they both carry the required aluminum toothed Conmar zipper...
To achieve the desired look for an original Willis & Geiger M-422A I am currently having refurbished I began experimenting with different colored moutons. Through trial and error I was successful in fading or sun bleaching my mouton material into achieving my desired color. After using several...
Hi Harry,
I too am fortunate enough to have become the owner of a size 42 California Sportswear G-1. Normally I would not be able to fit in a size 42 G-1 jacket but in the case of this maker it fits me fine.
John Chapman featured a nice size 42 California Sportswear in his Flight Jacket...
Peacoat,
It has been my good fortune to have found that the G-1 jackets made in the late 1950s by L.W. Foster are the most comfortable USN jacket. As it turns out this was a large contract and many are still availble.
These jackets do not cut quickly to the waist unlike most other G-1...
It is my experience to have found that some G-1 jackets were made with wide wind flaps as compared to others. Not sure that you will ever find an original Mil Spec G-1 without a wind flap. However, I see them from time to time with those wind flaps having been removed.
Cheers,
One of the differences I have found between the two different hides from a longevity stand point is that I have found HH has a top coat that is more highly resilient. As exhibited in a late 1940s or early 1950s civilian style flight jacket even though it has obviously had lots of use the top...
