Hi All,
I'm interested in sourcing a M-445B Monarch. Specifically the version with the short zipper & buttons.
Condition is not an issue. As I am more interested in simply obtaining it for a pattern.
Thanks, Dave
Hi All,
Although far from being an expert on all things A-2 I would like to give my 2 cents on this Goldsmith jacket project.
It is my experience that each A-2 manufacture put their own spin on their given A-2 contract. This difference is also seen from one civilian jacket maker design to the...
Hi All,
As the son of USN aviator the G-1 comes quite natural to me. I just spent ten years accumulating the correct jacket and patches to duplicate my father's 1954 issue G-1. That original jacket was stolen out of his VA-152 MAVERICKS office in hanger #23 at NAS Alameda in 1969...
Hi All,
Yes, it appears that we all have our favorites. In my case it is the Monarch make jacket. As a prolific jacket maker any number of completely different types & models imaginable were made available.
Below are some of my Monarch USN type jackets in two completely different models. To...
Hi All,
I say, to each his own with regards to an individual's favorite USN jacket. In my case that preference is with those original jackets from within my collection.
As seen below are a selection from that collection. In this case, three different original model USN type jackets made by...
Hi,
The repairs to this jacket are almost too numerous to list. Here are a few & as seen received and the result of numerous collar repairs.
As seen below are once cleaned up.
Beyond that is the cockpit damage and wear. Moreover, these War era Monarch jackets were originally...
Hi Joel,
I appreciate that!
You may not recognize it but to correctly bring that jacket back represents about three times the effort as building one new from scratch. However, with it being the only true Large size War time USN model Monarch I've ever seen , I thought it well worth the...
Hi All,
I 'm proud to have brought this one back and wanted to share it with the Forum members. This particular jacket represents a max effort on my behalf. Since being repaired this jacket is hardly recognizable with the basket case I started out with.
I hope you enjoy!
Cheers, Dave
Hi All,
Sometime back Dinerman passed along a jacket that I greatly admired & as seen here https://vintagehaberdashers.com/2012/10/31/monarch-leather-jacket/. Subsequently, I came up with my own design.
This redesigned Monarch Aviator of mine was spawned by Dinerman's original aviator style...
Hi All,
I have just completed the restoration of the pre War era Monarch half belt jacket that spawned my reproduction posted last year. This particular model was Monarch's 1st generation to use a zipper. It is a real favorite of mine.
The jacket had been highly modified & near a basket case...
Hi All,
Just completed the remake for that trade jacket. As seen when received.
As a finished product.
Along the way I made a few changes & upgrade's. Among those changes was the addition of an action back, new collar and switched out those belted cuffs for buttoned. In addition, I...
Hi All,
The Monarch G-1 has always been a particularly favorite of mine. As a matter of fact I've been looking for a decent size 44 7823 (AER) G-1 Monarch for many years.
A couple of years back I came up with a fine size 42 and am wearing that same jacket today.
Are there any others with a...
Hi John,
No, the original buyer for that Monarch goathide Half Belt still has that jacket.
The one you were referring to was a Monarch AN-J-3A. It did not fit the buyer. I listed it and it resold in 3 hours. I've going to be building another one of those here shortly.
Cheers, Dave
Terry,
I'm so pleased that your ALL WEATHER jacket turned out as well as it did. Moreover, I appreciate your kudos.
Currently, I'm in the midst of transforming that Monarch jacket used as a trade and catalyst for your project. When I complete refurbishing that Monarch jacket you will not...
